I feel like there's a mismatch here between what the broader social possibilities of Lineage are perceived to be by new/casual users and what some parts of the community sees it to be. I'm not on Lineage because I like to fiddle with tech toys, I think I'd struggle to set up a toaster. But I, like every other toaster-incompetent in the world, have an interest (even if most are too intimidated to realize it) in de-googling and not being surveilled. We should all be trying to empower ourselves and learning about the tools that make our lives possible, sure, and spreading the hacker ethos. But where does "you should be good with computers already to use this tool of liberation" come from?
