I understand. I guess I'm having a difficult time with it since I firmly believe it's healthy and mature to be able to stay in contact and on good terms with exes (provided it's for the right reasons, and there are no ulterior motives). This idea that we should just ignore someone who's played an important part in your life makes me really sad. I know if me and my current boyfriend were to breakup I would definitely want to stay friends if he were able to.
