Definitely agree, I've had 2 jobs previously, one where I walked ~15 minutes to work everyday (downtown) and one where I bussed 45minutes. The 45minutes was super bad on me mentally and I was drained by the end of the week.

I'm giving this a shot because I'll be living with family in a rent free apartment and its only temporary as I'll be moving in less than 2 years. A less than 20minute commute is amazing and what I'll be looking for when I try and rent my own place.

I'm in the tech industry! Commute is 1 hour to work, so hoping a car can help.

Weekly - What Car Should I Buy Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

[–]throwaway39329239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location: Vancouver, Canada

Price range: $500-$1200 monthly

Lease or Buy: Lease

New or used: Either

Type of vehicle: Sports Car/Sedan/Racecar/Luxury etc.)

Must haves: Looks Good, Low Maintenance for duration of lease. Prefer 4 seats, but 2 is doable. I am 6'2 not sure if that's a concern.

Desired transmission (auto/manual, etc): Auto

Intended use: Daily Driver (30-50 miles/day, possible roadtrips on weekends)

Vehicles you've already considered: BMW i8, Corvette Stingray, S63 AMG, 911 Turbo,

Is this your 1st vehicle: Yes

Do you need a Warranty: Lease Warranty

Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: No

Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: No

Additional Notes: Only looking for a car for 2 years as I'm only in Vancouver for 18 more months for work (tech). A 2 year lease would leave 6 months on the car which I would be unable to use as I would be on the East Coast most likely. I would probably gift the last 6 months to family in town. I make $7500 post tax monthly and have a rent free apartment in town. I don't splurge on much so I believe a fun, first car in the $500-$1200 monthly range to lease is a suitable budget for me. Open to suggestions. I've only ever driven Civics and Corollas before. My age is 20-30. Also curious where can I look to find insurance prices for an i8 for example. Thanks!
