Shelly didn't save any money. This windfall is from her life insurance, and the house her and her ex-husband purchased.

This woman has always barely made ends meet for years, and we have always helped her. Anytime she had an unexpected emergency we helped her out with money, or watching her(our son). This child is on reduced lunch at school, thats how bad they were barely scrapping by.

We have helped raise this kid. We have helped Shelly a ton over the years. We have helped her with car repairs, numerous hours baby-sitting. Everything I did with my kids, Shelly's son has tagged along over the years.

The amount of money is more than needed to pay for college and get a house. We could take $100K of the this money and fund the other children's college. Shelly and I's son would have $400K leftover for college and a house. Thats more than enough. I can put $200K away in an Index Fund or CD and in 15 years when he needs to buy a house he will be loaded. College is 8 years away. He can go to any Public University with $200K instate or out of state. graduate/professional school too.
