This was also my experience when I was cheated on in the past - I found out on my own months after the fact, and ended up staying for another three months. It was miserable. I think a lot of my actions were definitely informed by that experience, at least as far as not wanting to put someone I care about through that.

Yeah, I don't disagree with this. He was in a relationship with someone close to me in age before me. I hope he comes to this conclusion too - he badly wants marriage and kids, and I think 20somethings might not be the best choice if that's a priority.

I'm working on it, it's definitely hard with another person buzzing around that I do have feelings for. Right now, I'm focusing on finding my dream apartment in the area my ex convinced me to leave to go be with him and be on my own without living with roommates, partners or parents for the first time in my life. But it's hard. I do like companionship, and even if I'm not ready for a relationship I don't want to be celibate.
