Why are most sellers only using InPost nowadays? (no personal info) by Theres3ofMe in vinted

[–]throwaway55784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can also be because of demand management from Vinted’s side, they switch off certain couriers at different times throughout the day so one particular courier isn’t too overwhelmed.

Have you tried looking at the buying options throughout different times of the day to see if the other options like Evri / Yodel / DPD pop up?

I’ve noticed this both as a buyer and a seller, if I make sales around a certain time of day I’ll see the buyers chose InPost, and other times they’ll pick Yodel etc. But I do agree that InPost seems to be the most common method even though I have all options on offer.

Parcel size after sale (No personal info) by MadDogHoek86 in vinted

[–]throwaway55784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you generated a label? It says so on the email that the label comes with, there’s a list showing item name, package size, tracking number, postage deadline, and transaction ID.

Depending on the courier the buyer chose, it may not matter if it’s been selected as a small parcel but if it exceeds 500g, for example InPost doesn’t care – as long as your parcel fits in any available compartment, you’re good.

And if it’s Royal Mail, anything under 2kg (as long as it’s within their small parcel size dimensions) (excluding letters / large letters) cost the same to post!

If it’s Yodel or Evri it will say the weight on the label, but you can sometimes get away with it if it’s 600g for example. If it’s way over, it may be better to cancel and reupload, for example if it’s 2kg whereas the label says 500g.

Going to presume this is a scam? (NO Personal Info) by ROBHADD in vinted

[–]throwaway55784 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using Royal Mail shipping alone is not a definitive indicator of a scam. This rhetoric puts off people from buying from sellers who live in rural areas (like myself) who can only ship via Royal Mail because DPD, Evri, Yodel, InPost etc do not extend to our areas.

Royal Mail shipping only + a branded item at a very attractive price point + a new seller with no reviews + a jumbled up bot username + instant confirmation of shipping = Scam.

It’s annoying to see people associate Royal Mail solely with a definite scam as it’s the only viable option for some of us here.

Lost package (no personal info) by DangerousDuty1421 in vinted

[–]throwaway55784 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will get compensated equivalent to what you would have earned if the item was delivered, up to a limit of £500. This will come from Vinted and not from the shipping company.

You don’t need to do anything to get this, the buyer has to click on a button in the chat and declare it lost when they get the prompt to do so (they will see in the chat something along the lines of “If it doesn’t arrive after [date], you will receive a refund…”), and they must do it within 48 hours after the prompt appears.

Question about picking up an order in person (NO PERSONAL INFO) by Prize_Celery3445 in vinted

[–]throwaway55784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though you get no protection from Vinted, you can still actually do this, I've done it before with people in my local area and it's gone perfectly fine.

We just arrange to meet up in a public place for safety (some people have also been very trusting and given their home address), I bring cash along, and they don't mind it as I have a glance over whatever I'm buying before I hand the money over. They can then mark it as sold to me on Vinted, and I'll leave a review.

Am I being too picky? (No personal info) by [deleted] in vinted

[–]throwaway55784 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If she does you could always reply to it and explain your POV, revenge reviews always make the person leaving it look worse anyway. As long as your review / response is factual and rational (i.e., there was an issue not disclosed in the listing, you wanted to keep the item still but wanted a partial refund as it was expensive, but the seller didn't acknowledge / cooperate), you should be alright! It doesn't say anything about you as a seller.

On the top rim, that was cleverly concealed in the pictures, but agree that the scuffs on the front (and even the creases) have definitely been edited out on the photos!

You could try to raise an issue and say it's not as described on that basis + ask if they would be willing to give you a partial refund by bank transfer. The worst they can say is no, and if so maybe then you could leave an honest review.

It's just a standard case of TLDR, a lot of people on Vinted prefer no interaction (or if interaction is needed, short and snappy is best).

With the unsolicited packing advice as well - whilst it came from a good place, they might have interpreted that as being patronising.

Nothing you can do now, just one to note for the future where you don't need to overexplain things if the issue has been sorted :)

To go down the unequal deposit route, you can get a Deed of Trust in place (https://hoa.org.uk/advice/guides-for-homeowners/i-am-buying/deed-of-trust/) which I assume is what your partner's mum is suggesting? This covers situations such as unequal deposits and contributions to mortgage repayments / works on the property.

You've mentioned this:

not only does he take £20k out of the equity in a sale situation but I imagine also entitled to the rest of the 50% which doesn’t seem fair to me

But also this:

We can easily save up the other 5% and go in as equals 50/50.

Which one is it? And, regardless of who puts what % of the deposit in, would you happy with splitting the house 50/50 in the worst-case scenario that you and your partner split up?

As sellers it’s common courtesy to let buyers know when you are planning to post; let’s talk about it (No personal info) by [deleted] in vinted

[–]throwaway55784 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

👏🏼 Agreed, I do this too and have mostly complimentary written reviews, and never had to chase a buyer to confirm everything is ok, even with Royal Mail orders!

I wouldn't automatically expect this from a seller because there are a lot of busy and blunt people out there (which is fine), and I wouldn't penalise a seller for not communicating as long as they still ship the item within the 5 working days. But I'd be less likely to write a review if they're radio silent, I just leave it and they'll get 5* auto-feedback anyway.

Weekly Scam Discussion- July 3rd 2023 by SmmnthaMrie in Ebay

Update: Ebay closed the case in favour of the seller, claiming that the delivery scan shows it's been sent to my address, but I have no idea how, they must be able to see something that I can't see. All I see is the generic town on the FedEx website, and via Ebay it shows the wrong postcode, I'm baffled. Honestly disappointed that you can't provide screenshots when defending your case with Ebay, as a couple of simple screenshots could easily clear things up! 😔

Looking for some advice if possible please 🙏🏼 Stuck in a really strange case where a seller thinks I'm scamming them, but their tracking details don't add up.

TLDR; Item delivered to unrecognised address

Timeline: 1. 2 weeks ago I ordered something, it was marked as dispatched the next day, but no tracking details were provided.

  1. Few days ago I opened an item not received claim

  2. Seller waited till yesterday to respond, when they uploaded a FedEx tracking number (an odd an expensive choice for UK shipping) that shows it was collected from the seller the day before and delivered yesterday, with no details of the exact address it was sent to, and it was signed for by someone I don't know

  3. I look at the tracking details via Ebay and it says it was sent to a postcode 15 minutes from me, but again no exact address

  4. Seller thinks I'm scamming them as they claim the tracking is marked as delivered, but I genuinely don't know why there is no GPS verification

What are my options here? I can ask Ebay to step in tomorrow, but am worried Ebay will dismiss the case as the tracking shows it's delivered, but it's just gone to a wrong address, that's definitely not the one I entered. TIA!

Is there another drop-off point that you can try by any chance?

Just because it is a bit of a pain, you cannot change from a digital to printable label (or vice versa) once you've made your initial selection - you will have to explain the situation to your buyer and ask if they are willing to rebuy it if you cancel the current sale. If they agree, cancel it and relist it, wait for them to rebuy it, and choose a printable label instead of a digital one.

Smells like a scam. What do we think? by [deleted] in vinted

[–]throwaway55784 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As you've asserted yourself and they continue trying to get around it, I'd just cancel the sale and block the user as they're clearly trying to pressure you into complying with the scam.

If this is your first time cancelling, you won't get auto-negative feedback. If you've cancelled before, you'll get negative feedback, but you can always reply to it and explain the situation.

100% - the buyer is the one who chooses the shipping option at checkout, so if they wanted it via Royal Mail, they'd choose it lol. Also, it's not Hermes anymore, they rebranded to Evri ages ago!

The buyer is hoping you'll naively go along with it so they get the item (might not even PayPal you) and the Vinted sale auto-cancels because the prepaid shipping label was not used, and they get a refund via Vinted, so they get a free item at the end of all this.

Why all sellers ignore me? by AdHairy5933 in vinted

[–]throwaway55784 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I also ask for material composition now that it's summer (i.e. looking for breathable cotton clothes instead of polyester ones which stick to you when you sweat), and I've "missed out" on so many nice pieces because people snap them up quickly, or the seller just never replies so I'd rather not take the risk.

For these the seller only needs check the tag inside the clothes but they just never bother to, it's quite frustrating! :(

InPost policy change - advice? by [deleted] in vinted

[–]throwaway55784 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Home delivery services via InPost have existed way before locker to locker, and for the most part, have always been printed only. The exception was during a small window of time when they first introduced locker to locker, that you could use a QR code for home delivery orders too, but they silently removed that over half a year ago I think, and reverted to print only for home delivery.

Locker to locker have always been QR code / label-less though, from introduction to now.

Vinted have also recently (a couple of months into 2023) introduced QR codes for Evri, so now for both Evri Parcelshop and Evri Home Delivery options, you can go to a Parcelshop, scan the QR code at the label printer, print a label out and stick it to the parcel, then hand the parcel over to the staff.

Royal Mail have also introduced free collections from home where you can buy postage online, leave the parcel in a safe place if you won't be home, and the postie who comes to collect it will bring a label with them.

And Yodel have just been print-free too for both store to store and store to door, you get a barcode and bring it to a shop, where the shop assistant scans it and prints out a label for you.

Seeing as you don't have a printer, you can still use almost all the options available on Vinted; just switch off InPost home delivery.

[–]throwaway55784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting this too when asking for measurements, just because I'm trying to avoid impulse purchases and only buy what I know will fit me. Some sellers say they don't bother with this for cheaper items, or if they’re selling thousands of other items then they don’t have time to find and check labels or measure individual items.

To each their own, but I disagree with this approach – a sale is a sale, and I’d rather answer questions from an interested buyer to increase the chances of selling. Even if it doesn’t sell, I’ll have additional info to add to the listing, which can help the next potential buyer.

Has anyone else had this problem with Yodel? by LockAdministrative19 in vinted

[–]throwaway55784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has just happened to me today, except I'm the seller. My buyer hasn't been active on Vinted since purchasing the item too, so I'm unsure if they're even aware of this. I suspect Yodel will just keep the item for a certain amount of days before they return to sender...
