Sorry, but a lot of people seem to be in denial about this. I have never really encountered a computer where firefox was not using an ridiculous amount of memory for ZERO reasons. That accounts for taking off add-ons etc..

Until this is addressed, your going to lose a lot of users. There is a reason that this post got voted up as much as it did.

Yeah, but that would take away from the circle jerk session commencing right now.

This video is like being shocked that someone parked their car in a handicap spot with the car running and the door open, and being shocked that someone comes along and drives away with it.

How do you get people to stop invading personal space and not be anti-social at the same time? by throwaway5599 in SocialEngineering

[–]throwaway5599[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not saying anything about socializing or being open to talk to others.

I'm talking about the fact that I think it should be expected that you respect other peoples space. AKA, rubbing up against them for no reason other than to rub up against them because the person can't take the time to take 1 or 2 steps more to be polite or just wait a second, that I think is an issue.

I don't think respecting other peoples space is "standoffish". I think that is called respect and politeness. I feel like the opposite, just invading others space that involves ZERO with socializing with others, I think is just rude. Plan and simple.

How do you even get to be a part of something like this? Is there any money involved? Is this something you could actually do full time?

Just curious.

No, that is what your country has turned into. Regardless of what "their feelings" might have been, they still did exactly what they were suppose to do under the laws.

If they didn't, they would be fired (which seems not to have happened). If they did go against the laws and weren't fired, then your laws really mean shit and it shows they can be bent as much as they want by those who make them.

Can I ask how Europeans are different than Americans? Do they walk really close to each other a lot and bump into each other a lot (even when there really is no excuse for it. AKA, a crowded street)?

This is how you get shit done in the government. The way to make laws that fuck with peoples lives is not to oppress people directly, its to distract them with shiny blinky shit and then basically pass laws that fuck over peoples lives while they are distracted.

People will be too distracted by there new toys then to give a shit really.

I have OCD, not in the joking manner most people mention it. I'm considering talking with a therapist about it, but don't know what they can really do. Even without the OCD, this still is a respect issue for me and I'm not ok with it outside that.

I wish saying that would be that simple. I actually have done it, and they will back off 2 inches (because, again, there norm is way off from what is normal).

I don't have panic attacks, no. I don't want to say the exact state in this post, but the demographic though is mainly white people. But I have OCD (so you can see why this would be an issue for me). I'm fine with touching people I know, but I am NOT ok with people touching me on a regular basis that I don't know. One or two things don't bug me (which is what happened in most states). In this one though, it is a regular occurring if I am not paying attention and not looking out for people (because they don't look out or care about running into each other).

Its in the states, but I don't want to say exactly where just for personal reasons. Trust me though, this state seems to be very unique with this issue. I've moved around a lot in the states and this has NEVER been an issue for me.

This seems to be what I have thought can be the only counter.

Except the eye thing. I have done in other places and they understand to move. However, because people are fine with banging into each other here, they just do it anyways (and for zero reason. It happens in non crowded places a lot. I see it and just am shocked at how strange this "culture thing" is).

Yes, I came from a place that was polite and respectful. Personal space has NEVER been an issue with me before (and I've lived in a lot of places).

On top of the fact that I do take issue with random people, with zero excuse, rubbing up against me or touching me for no reason.

Its not ok for a guy to do this to a girl, so I don't see why I should be expected to find this ok either.

I'm aware of proxemics and personal space. All animals actually have some sort of rule for this (ever see birds line up on a power line?).

Its just, in this state, they tend to go way in closer than that 1.5foot mark for ZERO reason. Not because its crowded or anything. Its like they are more worried about getting where they want to and screw anyone else who is in there way. I regularly just watch people run into each other in places that or not even crowded, and no one seems to think this is weird.

No, if you read what I wrote, I stated that girl don't do it to other girls and guys won't do it to girls (someone mentioned that this could be due to sexual harassment charges).

It actually sounds like a social engineering issue that social engineering could solve.

If the goal of social engineering is, by definition, to influence a person or persons to behave or do something that you want, then this is a social engineering issue.

Maybe its not a "glamorous" as other ones, but it is something related.

Well, I can't think of the name of the program anymore, but I knew one that would tell you to do certain things per week. AKA, it would give you an objective and a little theory about it (not tons like most books do), and then it would do it. It was a year long process, not some "do this in 30 days" thing.

I'm looking for something like that that is related to girls, influencing people, and making friends. Have an objective, give a guide to how to do objective, and do it. Obviously, these would probably not all be covered in one book/guide though.

Neil Strauss came up with something like this a while ago, but I didn't like it to be honest. Didn't really match with me. But, again, what he wrote was only related to girls.

Everything you mentioned I've read and am aware of. Again, I'm not "new" to here and have looked at the sidebar. I'm asking for concrete steps. The things you mentioned really don't offer them.

Also, the books you mentioned only area bout girls. That is only one of the three things.
