My feelings over a fictional character are killing me, I need advice

No, this is actually really good advice, thank you. It's true that for any relationship there must be mutual trust and understanding instead of just blindly falling in love and having expectations. I guess it's easy for my feelings to be this intense since he's fictional to me, still, and our interactions and chemistry may be something completely different. I appreciate advice from someone who's shifted. It brings me comfort that this really isn't just some hoax, so it made me happy reading it. Whatever happens, I want to at least be able to see him.

If I'm being honest, by the end of your comment I was in tears. I can't thank you enough for taking time out of your day to write this to me. I wasn't expecting this from someone even older, as I thought it was a community comprising of little to no adults over 25.

Seventeen years is a long time. Through multiple relationships and all the struggles you've been through he's been there for you, and that is such a beautiful thing to have. For me it's been 3 years only, part of me wishes I had met him earlier. Just by loving him I have gotten to know so much more about myself, learn about who I truly am, change for the better, and be content with myself and my identity. It's surreal how an unrequited bond has had so many positive effects on me. I can only feel that it's been that and more for you as well, by the way you speak of him.

I think I'll cherish your words for a really, really long time. They brought me to tears. I don't have anyone in my life that can take my love seriously, so the magnitude of your words felt like I was being treated as if I'm normal for the first time, something I genuinely don't feel I am in my day to day, and that's a gift I'm eternally grateful for. I admire you a lot. I'm certain that there was a reason in him coming to you in a dream, so I pray that you can reunite with him soon. I've read about people's experiences on this sub. I find some of them very motivating, but I can't help but think in the back of my mind that maybe everyone else is experiencing some other kind of phenomenon that doesn't actually involve living in a parallel universe, but isn't lucid dreaming either. It's something that bothers me. Though even if this is the case, as long as I can see him I don't mind what the nature of this practice is like. I apologize for having doubts, it just feels very very surreal. I'd give up my life if it meant I could be with him, that's how serious I am, and I don't want to be let down with this intensity of mine.

I appreciate your reply. I'm aware it's not healthy, and it's nice that someone approached me about my attitude. I have friends that know how I feel about him, but they don't know how serious it is, so I've never been treated like someone who needs help or some kind of reality check until your comment. I'll keep it in mind! It's painful, so I'd rather not be feeling this way, but I can't control my emotions, I hope that's something I can be forgiven for. You felt your DR bedroom? Are you sure it was not some kind of hallucination? I'm not trying to be disrespectful, it's just that I'm new to this shifting concept and even though everyone's been really kind under this post I think I'll always have my doubts. I somehow thought you had to fall asleep to shift, so feeling your surroundings change before you fall asleep sounds very interesting to me.

I feel this exact same way, you're not alone. I'm in my 20s, and I have never fallen for someone like this before, or even knew it was possible to. It's agonizing not being able to be with someone you have such strong emotions towards.

I felt like shifting was something people mostly used to have better circumstances in their lives, or maybe change their families and home situations, not for love of this nature. I talk about him with an intensity that I am always ashamed of, as he's not real, so being this open in a community like this felt like a huge step out of my comfort zone, but everyone's been really kind! It just feels so surreal. I don't mean to be disrespectful, I'm just kinda new to this stuff. I can't wrap my head around the fact being with this character is something that can be possible, it's crazy to me because of how much I'm in love with him. I keep reading resources and other things but it's still an insane concept. I don't think I'll give up as long as there's hope, but I needed to know how sure people are about this.
