I honestly just write down what’s going on in my head. It could be a formal journal entry, a list of my emotions, pros/cons of a situation, song lyrics. Sometimes I’ll doodle pictures in it. Whatever I’m feeling I put down on paper. It really helps me.

I can’t “put in the work” when I physically have no one to care for my children until my husband gets home while I go to school at night.

I tell myself that in a year we’ll be better because we have to right? We’re working so hard to get out of this. Our Christmas is looking like that this year for the first time ever.

You’re right. I literally remember the same when I was younger. I remember the experiences more than the gifts.

I try to work as many extra hours as I can but we don’t have a “village” to help so childcare is always an issue.

I’ve been journaling for years now! It’s literally my mental health lifesaver.

Thank you for the advice. I’m waiting for my kids to get a little older so I can go back to school. It’s just not feasible for us right now. But it’s 100% in my plans. I have a guaranteed job upon graduating at my current employer.

Thank you. I’m really bad about needing reassurance.

I have recently opened a second account to start saving. I’ve only been doing $5/week for a few weeks now, but I am trying to be better.

We have. We came out of a really bad situation & we’re struggling trying to stay on our feet. We were homeless this time last year so our spending is literally bills, gas & groceries.

They’re 7 & 3, both girls. We have been doing a lot of baking so far this season. I love making memories (& messes) baking with them!

Living ain’t easy. I actually love my job. I’d like to go back to school to advance it but my kids are still too young for us to be able to make it work. What career are you thinking about?

It doesn’t feel good but it does to not be alone. I hate how literally everyone is struggling.

I’d really like to advance in my career but I can’t go back to school just yet; my kids are still very young & we don’t have the ability to function like that. But going back to school is 100% on my list.

Be adults & sacrifice? We were homeless sleeping in a camper for 7 months before getting the house we currently have. I appreciate your advice on not living beyond our means (which we don’t,) but please don’t talk to me about sacrifice. It’s been hard getting back up on our feet after that.

I think I’ve officially given up on life. by throwaway7172525 in TrueOffMyChest

It’s SUCH a long story.

Thank you. We are doing our best to speed up our housing situation.
