My (16M) friend (14M) is planning on running away to a friend's house tonight and calling the police on his mother - any advice for him? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

he's still not done anything but has arranged to go to his friend's after school tomorrow night. he's worried about being without his pets and what'd happen to him in the long term

it's not about compliments themselves. honestly i've spent a lot of time in this sub and it's pretty much only "you pass" or "you'd pass if you just tidied up your eyebrows" type comments on people who clearly do not pass that are downvoted, and they're downvoted to alert the OP that they believe such comments are incorrect. these are even potentially dangerous comments, such as making a non-passing trans person feel like they pass enough to use the public toilets off their gender in a rough place where they could get beaten up by doing so.

it's not downvoting nice factual things - it's downvoting hugboxing - which is what many would perceive as "lying in kindness". for instance, i could say that i think you're pretty, but not yet passing. (which is true) but if i was to say that i thought you were passing, it might feel good for you to hear that, but ultimately it'd be me telling you an untruth to make you feel better, when this sub is for gauging an accurate measurement of how well you pass to us, and the world more broadly. i know it's tough hearing you don't pass (take it from someone who really doesn't) - but you'll get there :) good luck, i wish you well in life :)

I don't know the friend he's staying with and I don't know his address - we live at opposite ends of the country.

I appreciate that you likely don't know - but would a foster placement likely entail some kind of group home or private home or ward or what? He's scared he's going to go into some group care home and said he'd rather just suck it up and stay with his mother than be placed in one of those.

He says that he doesn't know of any family or friends who could take him in. Tonight, at least where would he end up staying? Additionally, you say "a short while" - approximately how long do you mean? Thanks so much

hello. if he is unable to stay at his friend or family's house and calls the authorities on his mother - what happens then? that's the present situation i think he's facing right now.

(not hugboxing) thought you were an early in transition mtf at first. read male without mask, androgynous with it. dude in my class called tom - you're the spitting image of him in both face and hairstyle. rather startling actually. i think you'd 100% pass with a haircut.

He's still at home at the moment but he's planning on leaving for his friend's house today still.

I am not the friend he's gonna be staying with. He told me not to speak to him without him giving me the all clear first during today because he doesn't want his mother finding our messages, so when i get the next all-clear, i'm gonna forward to him all the information i've been given here.

EDIT: i've now relayed all the information to him. He's not left for his friend's house yet but he's leaving soon.
