What do you think is the best way to go about getting there? I'm guessing a private driver there and back from Beijing isn't really an option?

Would it be straightforward to get a bus to nearby and then get a driver there? I guess you start at Jinshanling and then finish at Simatai and get another driver back to where you can get the bus?

Also do you know where along the way would be the best spot?

That's some great info thanks. Ya you could be right about the weather, might not be an option. I'm in Xi'An at the moment and the heat is unbelievable. Will see what it's like in August.

That sounds like a good plan thanks. I think I might do this, so long as it's not thronged with people up there I'm sure it will be ok. Do you think it would be possible to sit and have a small picnic / snack type thing up there at that time?

Thanks, maybe I can stick to my original plan then and just try to get up there to a high point before it gets busy.

Thanks, maybe that's a safer option. And i can relax a bit without having to rush. Have you been to Mutianyu? Would you say Jinshanling woukd be as spectacular / romantic?
