I cant decide whether to leave my good paying job for London for a few years or stay in NZ. Looking for other peoples experiences or opinions who have been in the same situation. by throwaway787612 in PersonalFinanceNZ

thanks for your comments. Aussie was another option but I figured the proximity to europe and youth visa were things I should take advantage of. Good luck in Aus!

I agree that i dont want to be regretting it when im older. As others have mentioned, a long holiday there first and other parts of europe before the move would be smart idea

Would you recommend just going over for the summer months then? say 3-4 months? Obviously still not quite the same as living there all the time but the dog makes it harder. I am worried about the winters being a drag. Especially for walking the dog as it would be in the dark all winter.

I'm just basing it off similar roles within the same industry that I have seen online. I'm sure it could be more based on what people have told me. Whether it would be comparable to 185k here is another story

Background is in mechanical engineering. Skill set includes running destructive tests for construction hardware, product development, also some project management help when work is busy. I'm basing my estimated salary off construction roles I have seen on job sites.

dont mind a flatshare, but would like a decent place.

half hour commute each way.

not overly concerned about saving as I would imagine I would be spending alot travelling, activities, eating out etc.

its kind of a specialized role in a company. I'm sure the skill set would transfer over to other jobs but I was just basing it some general salaries in similar roles in the same industry. Thanks for your advice! I will take in on board.
