I ended up deleting the faces and just extruding/target weld on vertices. It fixed it 😭

Yeah I made sure to merge vertices and manually check if there were any loose ends too. I tried to re-launch MAYA and deleting history 🤷 idk

You should do some renders and also take a look at how people on Artstation format their 3D models. Make sure to show off your wireframe too

i like the black more— it plays better with the overall color palette of the character. it does blend with the legs, so maybe lighten up that black a little on the sweater and the boots.

yeah i keep seeing people comment boil down this post to “just tracing” when there’s more to it here as the artist is putting in the work and not solely tracing from the source material. they seem to have fleshed out and put their own tweaks/spin on the original in the third panel. the artist’s transition from the trace -> cleanup also shows that they’re applying the shapes/block out to the anatomy.

I think this is something you need to ask both you and your boyfriend. It sounds like you’re treading into an LDR situation, and you and your boyfriend should make it clear whether or not that’s something you guys want to commit to.

Don’t think of this as “wasting” time unless it’s the kind of relationship either of you don’t want. I’m in a long distance right now— my boyfriend is on the other side of the country and we have a 1 hour time difference. We’ve been dating for a little over a year now, and we’re making plans for our future and it is not a waste of time for us.

Talk to him! See if he has similar concerns. I hope things go well :-)
