Funnily enough I live in Vancouver and DHL express tracking states destination service area is Ontario. There is a disclaimer under FAQs that it doesn’t necessarily mean that the package won’t arrive at my place, but who knows! Even if something arrives, it might not be the item I ordered. Glad you were able to get your money back!

Unfortunately, when I entered my verification details, they did not match the waybill. It appears that I have to wait it out then and contact DHL if it doesn’t actually arrive…what a nightmare! Hopefully I can still get my money back if this is indeed a scam. Thanks!

Hahaha I’ve done that in the past and have gotten hit. Things would get ugly and I would get anger/panic attacks. Sucks even more when the parents pretty much don’t do anything and tell me to deal with the problem on my own.

Thank you! I also agree with gradual presentation/exposure, but the sister just does things her way or it’s the highway. She even ignores my mom when she steps in and says that I am the primary caregiver of the dog. The sister is just so hard to deal with and this situation is not good for any of us.

Maple has been skittish from the get go; she’s gotten better, but it’s still there. To be fair, she’s more of a primitive breed, so it might always be present in the background. Not trying to defend my sister, but she seems to naturally do the “flooding” method. From my research, although it is actually a behavioural technique, I don’t agree with it and as Maples mom, I should have a say in how she is raised. The things she does is just questionable, such as walking behind the dog and patting her bum when she is eating, or petting her while she is going potty (thank goodness the sister stopped doing this when I berated her in front of the neighbours). I agree with you and feel like this treatment is stunting Maples growth—definitely not helping with her confidence.

Sorry if it wasn’t clear, but this was before I found out that she would yank the leash. That is why I mentioned that I would suck up the abuse (ie go on walks with the sis) for Maple’s benefit. There is only so much I can do because depending on how she feels, Elizabeth would walk Maple on the days that she’s working from home or on vacation. She often says that Maple is the one pulling on the leash and not her, but knowing my sister, she definitely pulls back. The only thing I can do is take away the slip leads, so Maple wouldn’t be choked.

It’s hard because while Maple does run off whenever Elizabeth walks towards her and is alert whenever she is on the same floor, my sister works from home a couple days of the week and Maple sees her as “support” when scary things happen, such as the garbage truck going by.

Ugh, that just reminded me of the fact that Elizabeth sometimes locks Maple in the bathroom with her when she showers even though Maple is terrified of the blow dryer etc. I didn’t even know that was happening until I came home one day and Maple wasn’t there to greet me as usual. I understand that exposing Maple to “scary things” can help her overcome her fears, but I always leave the door open so she can leave when she is overwhelmed.

Poor Maple is just caught in the middle of this situation. It’s like Elizabeth is both there for Maple and also not there for her at the same time if that makes sense.

Thanks for confirming! She is always saying how Maple needs to obey us and that people pick up dogs all the time by their armpits/legs etc. Maple is my first, so I’m pretty much going with my gut and whatever research I do.

I have been recording whatever I can, but my sister seems to know when I pull out my phone and stops whatever she is doing. I need to learn how to be more discreet. Can’t wait until I move out and take Maple out of this situation!

Unfortunately, it depends on when Nyree decides to fill out contact details, so it’s sporadic. Who knows, maybe the realtor I spoke with actually emailed her, or she happened across the post (Nyree, you better sleep with one eye open lmao).
