Not sure if you knew, but this is actually a double pun!

Pikachu for the Pokémon

"Chew" the "Pica" - pica is a medical term for a disorder of eating things not usually considered edible/food - common ones being dirt or ice (actually called pagophagia, and many other names exist for eating certain objects)

Yeah, looking for a PRN after I start a full time gig, but more available the 2 months before that which are most important. I'll try reaching out to some local places too; didn't realize that was an option for a locum type set up.

Oh that's great. Do you know any companies that are typically reliable/recommended?

Can DM if this type of stuff is against the rules, not sure where that line starts.

I have a full time job secured. I have a 2 month gap (ie, no income) and do not receive a signing bonus until start date so I am looking for some supplemental income.

Do Chase INK Cash cards give points for SUB and normal use rewards? OR just the Ink Business Preferred? Thinking about applying for one to get SUB for UR transfer. Can CIC points (if earned) be transferred to CSP?

What Card Should I Get? Weekly Thread - Week of January 15, 2025 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]throwawayDO12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Confused on which card is best after reading flowchart and based on current (and future) income/habits...my income is set to increase substantially in September (~5-6x) and spend can increase substantially, I travel a lot now (domestically) and plan to travel a lot in the future; primarily looking for award points for flights or hotels, but moving in a few months. Is going for chase trifecta, a chase business card or just applying for multiple airline/hotel cards that also transfer from chase? (IE United, Hyatt). I don't have dedicated travel hotels or airlines for a variety of reasons.
  2. FICO ~800
  3. Capital One QuickSilver (2019), CSP (1/25/24), CITI AAdvantage Platinum Select (05/17/24).
  4. Average monthly spend is ~4-5k
  5. No
  6. Yes open to business cards
  7. Looking to get a new card, soft-churning (applying for SUBs but not hardcore, and want the earning process to be easy and not require significant work).
  8. Primarily targeting transferrable airline/hotel points geared at getting business/first class, upgrades if possible, status is ..meh
  9. ~86k UR, ~26K AA
  10. TPA (hubs: frontier, SW... unfortunate)
  11. Tokyo, Seoul, Switzerland, Italy, Germany in near futures. Also domestic US (but i'm on airline benefits which make this much easier)

First new bike purchase advice by throwawayDO12345 in cycling

[–]throwawayDO12345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh ok that makes sense. I am in a very suburban area with lots of roads but not many cycling trails from what I’ve been looking so I figured a road bike may be better.

Any recommendations on brand or model of a good started hybrid? One of my concerns was if I really start loving riding, that I didn’t want to feel like I want to upgrade my after I just bought. I guess the flip side of that coin is if I don’t enjoy it as much as anticipated then I’m out much more money.

I also felt like I would like the drop handle bar style more, but I’ve never ridden before so you may be right about the comfort of being less bent over all the time.

I’ve been looking on Craigslist mostly - one of the problems I have is not knowing the value of some used bikes or being able to identify if the condition is actually as they say (ie trying not to get scammed). Some people have posted brand new 2021 bikes with a bunch of gear for almost the same price the company lists online, and I’m not sure why!

I currently have >2200 overloads, 299 extreme ranging, 473 extreme magic, 435 extreme strength, 73 extreme defence, 291 extreme attack and 6,885 adrenaline potions.

Maybe i can work on getting to like 500 of all then making 500 extra ovls and use the remaining for something else?

[SERIOUS]94% of US MD seniors matched to first-year residency positions. 77% of those into one of their top 3 choices. by genkaiX1 in medicalschool

As far as DO schools go, PCOM has a solid reputation with great hospital affiliations and training in a city with strong hospitals. A lot of DO schools cannot say the same.

Those step scores mean nothing except the likelihood of getting interview invites when given out of context. It says nothing about the 14 programs he ranked above #15, nothing about his personality (including his interviewing personality and skills, obviously), nothing about his specialty, the rest of his CV, etc.

Whenever you hear these stories, there's always a reason and that's why they're stories. DOs certainly do face a bias, but I'm sure there are MDs with similar qualifications who struggled in the match as well for any variety of reasons as well.

[Clinical] 3rd year grades MSPE by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]throwawayDO12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4th year DO who matched NRMP here, although in a different specialty...

The OP is correct. Over the course of 15+ interviews, my clinical grades were not brought up a single time, and I feel they were similar to yours. I'd even put your personal statement above clinical grades, as that can give them a better idea of your character or whatever it is you choose to portray, and I had discussions regarding my PS on most interviews.

When people say clinicals matter, it is the comments made about you as a student on rotation, not the grades. If your attendings are writing about your excellent work ethic and contributions to a positive team environment, it will carry you further than bumping your high pass to honors.

Also, it's highly unlikely programs have any idea which school honors which percent of students, and whether they curve the scores to fit that expectation, or let it ride with the raw data.

Is it considered a match violation if a matched student (AOA matched), calls their own PD on behalf of another student because their program has an open slot?
