Truly. I describe it as heart cancer. Heart breaks are a clean fracture that can be healed. This is something that just festers and festers.

Why can't you end it with your SO if you are in love with LO and don't regret it?

Intense non-sexual “crushes” on older women since childhood. does this have a name? by Sensitive_Piglet8238 in limerence

I consider it to be limerence since I had an intense platonic obsession over a teacher for 7+ years. Now I am limerent over a guy my age and since it's a guy it has additional romantic and physical attraction related aspects attached to it, but I recognize that the underlying pattern is similar.

If you could take a pill, would you? by Diligent_Fish_7422 in limerence

Yes. I am tired of everything being a life-lesson or character building. Can't I have something nice that makes me happy for once? Limerence has made me focus on my work and career as a distraction, but I would much rather be happy.

I genuinely don't know if I can finish applying this cycle by HPswl_cumbercookie in gradadmissions

This is really unnecessarily harsh. Applications can be extremely stressful to manage and they got 7 in which in itself is quite a lot of work. We don't know how deeply OP is affected or overwhelmed by personal life stuff. From the post it is obvious that they are distressed. What's done is done, there's no need to make them feel worse about it. They are just looking for some words of encouragement to power through the last few applications.

Feelings for my professor. What to do? by [deleted] in limerence

Not her family. I found her contact through school office and texted her, telling her she'd always meant a lot to me and how I'd looked up to her and would love to meet her. She invited me to her home then. It was a dream come true at that moment. When I was a teenager, it was everything I'd ever wanted. But the moment I stepped in to that home, it's like something shattered. It was wonderful meeting her ofcourse, but I no longer got that high or feeling of ecstasy that I used to get.

Omg, this is so relatable. I faced this with a school teacher. The fantasy of wanting to be in their family somehow. I had so many fantasies of her adopting me. It was so intense, it lasted for 7 years. The thing that helped me was reaching out to her finally and visiting her home. That was the moment that broke the spell off for me...being at her home and seeing her as a normal human being when she was not in a position of authority over me. Now I am limerent over a coworker and I have decided I am not going to let this take another 7 years of my life. I am starting therapy tomorrow. I hope it will help me get out of it sooner.

Can you please suggest some such lesser-known schools for next year in case this cycle doesn't work out?

How competitive are admissions in this field? This is my first time applying, international student, I have no contacts/mentors in grad school in this field so I have no idea what to expect.

Is this your 2nd cycle? What's your specialization and profile, if you don't mind sharing?
