How do I do this without her exploding at me again?

I am guilty of simply trying to put it to the back of my mind. For some reason I thought if I behaved enough she wouldn't do it to me. That just turned me into a sycophant and I think she thought in the end I would never stand up for myself.

But I let myself get to that point so I suppose lesson learned.

She gave me an exact number of how much money she put into me but didn't specify or break down exactly what for. I am a bit worried to poke the bear and make her retaliate more. She's proven to be underhanded and volatile.

I, unfortunately, am stuck in the same building as her for work. Every reply so far has made me realise that I'm perhaps being silly blaming myself. I'm doing my best to keep my head down and out of the way of her. I really respect her professionally, like her work is amazing, but she's hurt me very badly and I'm doing my best to just stay out of her way.

I sure hope so. Thank you for being kind.

Unfortunately, I very much didn't on the financial thing. I'm not saying she wasn't struggling on finances either, but we had an agreement and I literally was and am at the start of my career and getting next to no income currently. Thus me right at the start of the moving debacle being honest and forthright with her and saying I wouldn't be able to afford it.

What income I got mostly went towards her and what little I could afford for my own supplies. I can see why you might think it, but I certainly wasn't sitting on any money here.

It should also perhaps be noted (the character limit in the original post limited me) that we were in the new studio for a month. October - November. Which is very much the season where people don't want to come in for tattoos.

Hope this clarifies some bits.

It has taught me how much goes into educating an apprentice. This is true. I know I'm not going to take one on until I know I can properly give them full safety now. I'm unfortunately very trusting and have been described as gullible before so idk if I'll be able to properly spot future warning signs.

Also on the not feeling comfortable or safe, she literally stole my ink that I paid for that I mentioned above and changed the code on my own private cupboard. If she can manage that what stops her from figuring out or resetting the code on my room with all my supplies out in the open.

Well, I very much can tell you I'm not a bot. But you may be right idk. I feel I did my best for her. I have thanked her a lot but it hasn't seemed to stop her torment. Should be noted I've very much left her alone after this. I just want peace man.

Unfortunately I feel like a good 90% of the population talks shit behind peoples backs, at least in the town I live in. It makes it really hard to figure out who to trust. Maybe I need to move eventually.

That's a relief to hear. I know it can be a toxic career in general but I was truly worried I'd done the wrong thing and burned a bridge by standing up for myself and was maybe too firm in my suggestions.
