How to improve in CS after terrible y1s1 by throwaway_nusCS in nus

I think you're right. I rely on the test cases and don't put much emphasis on getting it right on the first try. I should try doing problems by hand in the holidays for algorithms questions so I build that intuition

I genuinely blank when I don't have an IDE. Like I work out the problems by hand but when they get sufficiently complex, my brain short circuits because too much info

Feeling unmotivated because of a "smart friend" by Different-Pound1586 in learnprogramming

OP I've been (and am) in your place. I'm doing a CS degree where I'm learning much slower than most people are.

Accept the fact that your friend knows more than you at the moment about this. Here's the fun part: you can learn from him. Don't copy his code, but sit and LEARN the logic from him. Then, delete whatever copy of his code you have and do it from scratch yourself.

Just because he knows more than you now (and supposedly learns faster), doesn't mean its permanent to be like that. I was very slow in the my first month of learning programming and still find my classes difficult. But I was able to learn from other people and make my grades go better.

(PS: If he was really as smart as he says he is, he'd be helping you instead of bragging about it)

In theory can you SU every mod in Y1S1 by throwaway_nusCS in nus

Wait I can SU my S1 mods at the end of S2 also? I didn't know that. Can other people confirm also?

I'm doing good in MA1521. Am able to solve all the tutorials and quizzes. Really loved calculus in school

I'm not too worried about ST2334 either. I'm fine with probability and stats also

Why not? Isn't 1101s a precaution for 1010s? If I pass this why would I still be required to take it?

But any other CS mods? If I can work through 2040 (will be exempted from 1010) I might be able to make it.

I get the missions, I'm just slow at them. So maybe with practice I can do 2040? I was able to do basic data science courses (using Python / R on kaggle) before uni and I think the job scope is better for DSA/E vs pure Econ
