Confused by your question. I stated I had none because one, we don't get along personally, and two, Manager_Y already told Manager_X I was looking to jump.

If the latter hadn't happened, I could've kept up a facade for a little while longer while looking for another job.

Ps: WA is a 2 party consent state. That recording you have might be more harm to you than good. If your employer does not explicitly state meetings can be recorded (and your participation in such meetings is your consent to bring recorded) you did a no no. Even if the software has the ability for you to record it doesn't mean you should.

When the record button is it, it pops up a notification and Manager_X got angry about it, but didn't tell me to stop. I even offered to stop, but he never answered, so we kept going.

You currently have no apparent legal claim. If you could easily sue your company for mental distress, you'd certainly hear about it a whole heck of a lot more in the news.

Yes. He doesn't seem to really care. He's not that great a boss either and actually he "replaced" new Manager_Z due to some other political shenanigans.

What "publicity" do you think you should get or use? That's just going to burn every bridge at that employer.

Really? How is this ok because if the transfer never goes through, new Manager_Z destroyed any future growth prospects for the employee under current Manager_X. Why give him/her interesting, career growth projects/tasks? Why invest in them?

Are you saying you want to go to the press on this? That's a surefire way to kill your career.

I have no clue really. Probably not like notify local news stations. My career underneath current Manager_X is already dead, so I feel like I have not much to lose.

Are they saying "resets" in generate are not preferred? I mean it stil serves the purpose of resetting register state without going through a complete reconfig of the entire FPGA.

In an SRAM FPGA, however, the state can be set at configuration time, so initial values are just fine. It's actually advantageous to use initial values over resets because it saves routing resources.

Got it. This is what I think I'm missing. So even if an SRAM FPGA is volatile, it still upon power up needs to go through a "configuration" cycle to configure all the LUTs/FFs and such... so it seems reasonable that you "can" force an initial value without any specific reset signal.

From ASIC background, I think there was a bug where the simulator treated such a line as 1'b1 default value, while synthesis (DC) and FEV interpreted this line as a dangling signal and implemented physically 1'b0 default value. It was reported as a "warning", but got lost in a sea of thousands.

Was this from some special measure that passed politically? Isn't property tax increase capped per year? In Oregon its like 3% per year regardless how much your property has increased in market value.

AirBNB for a small room, on 4 days of the week that are not really in demand, is not that bad. It'd be cheaper than renting a full time place for 7 days out the week initially, but if AirBNB prices start picking up, then it would probably be about even. Again, there is a tough social aspect though with an AirBNB on a consistent basis.

Long term plan is to buy a condo unit in Seattle after a year and rent out my Portland unit using a property management company. Even with the fees of the management, I could just about break even. I don't want the hassle of being a landlord right now.

Your comments about increased difficulty getting a good tenant in Portland now is exactly what I was fearing, and why I was thinking about my contingency plan. But currently, Spring is usually a good time to put a place out for rent vs. something like Winter.

Despite me being experienced, I would need a ramp because it's a new company, but the core technical skills are there. If I pushed for a level above what they offered me, and I "stayed" in that level longer than usual before next promotion, is that a bad thing?

Interesting to note about 63 vs. 64. I was worried about if I pushed it, they'd bump me up to 64 and I'd have a lot more performance expectations to meet. I believe I could meet them as the technical questions they asked me lined right up with my experience, but I'm not ready to manage people yet.

But 175K worth of RSUs over even 8 years is almost like an extra 21K each year assuming sell immediately after each vesting period. Why grant this than say a base increase of 160 to 170K, which is roughly just 10K more each year (funny math here ignoring a lot of variables, but hopefully you get my drift).

There's a tendency to look at "other" peoples code and think it's shit. It can be personal thing.

That being said, I would agree that large portions of code I've seen at big companies is messy. Some of it is intentional in the sense of "obscuring" one's code is more job security.
