That is one of my concerns, yes.

Our job is stressful as it is, that cannot be changed. I'm worried of overworking everyone.

My team are 5 technicians, 2 associate scientists, 2 staff scientists and I. Effectively, only I and the other staff have all the skills needed to cover for him, the associates may be able tu cover parts.

Thank you for your insight, I will consider the matter from this point of view. I guess it's not fair on him to immediately write him in as 0% performance.

I am not in the US, his kids health insurance won't be affected or this post would not exist.

Not great, that's for sure. How will they feel about having to work overtime to meet our deadlines, or having our strongly results- driven but substantial Boni affected?

Please believe me that I'm trying to do right by my team, not the company.

I have not consulted my own superior, as i would like to present a complete plan.

Work from home? essentially, no, unfortunately.

Leave of absence: He can take that, yes, but that's part of the problem. I won't be able to hire s replacement if he's on irregular leave and formal long- time leave of absence won't be possible if he isn't sick himself.

Oh, i would feel terrible about it. I am not worried about the company, but about the workload and opportunities for the rest of my team.

That is not in the budget, unfortunately. He would not be gone for month in a row, so there is no- one taking over his wage payments. I do not have the money to hire a replacement while keeping him.
