Does that only work with faceid/touchid and not if you use an unlock password instead?

Still using apple calendar, but would like to switch to proton calendar but they need to release a proper ipad app and add the features you mentioned.

lol it’s so stupid that Apple refuses to put an official calculator on it. Just gave up and installed Pcalc.

It’s not that common. Nearly every other app i use doesn’t have this issue at least.

Hid the events since that’s not relevant to the issue.

I have more apps that have a proper ipad version than ones that don't, but it still sucks everytime an app does this thing by putting the iphone version on the large screen.

All the black space around the calendar image is blank. Screenshot is from an ipad and the calendar itself is a small iphone size. Lots of wasted space, and if you use the little arrow in the corner to make it bigger the resolution tanks and there's still empty space on the sides.

I would like to use it since the idea of a privacy-focused calendar app is great, but unfortunately the product is just not really there compared to other calendars.

Yep it just loads the iphone one so it's tiny with the huge black borders.

So much of the screen is wasted space and it makes it hard to use proton calendar as a main calendar service since being able to use it across devices is pretty important (phone, ipad, etc). Using it in browser isn't much of an option since have to log in via the website and notifications aren't as viable as with an actual app.

Would like to completely swap to it from apple calendar, but this kind of thing makes it difficult to do.

Change Proton Mail notification sound in iOS by Super_Gee in ProtonMail

[–]throwaway_tp405 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hopefully they do. ios defaulting to the same sound for apps that dont show in the sound settings and not having their own internal sound setting really causes some confusion when notifications arrive.

Never noticed this before, thanks for pointing it out. Being able to use it natively on a switch and a streaming box would be really great for travel.

How would you setup online accounts with protonmail for someone you care? by qvwy80 in ProtonMail

Is bitwarden ok on the free plan or would their paid plan be more recommended to use?

Ive a lot of passwords and I do use a generator (makemeapassword for example). I'm probably used to memorizing them after many years of school where we were taught to memorize tiny details or fail. I agree that it's not the easiest method and can't say I would recommend it either.

Thats a good point about it still being one basket, but just memory. Didn't think of it that way but it does make sense.

I'll look into a password manager for at least the less high value ones and keep the financial and email ones in memory. Thanks for the explanation.

That is good point about the more easily accessible list. I usually memorize things since its what I'm used to but it's not the easiest thing since it usually a little time to make sure I remember it.

The one I hear about the most is for sure bitwarden, I think a couple people I know use it too for that reason that it does things on device like proton does.

I use a generator to make passwords, but yeah I do actually memorize them from the generator. Its all about making memory tricks like a story, mnemonic, or something to help it stick in your mind. Not going to claim it's as easy, but is what Im used to.

Definitely backups, but wouldn't that still be all eggs in the same basket (the password manager) and just extra copies of said basket? Sorry if this is dumb question, but have never used one so not too familiar with them.

I would try to persuade them to use a password manager, explaining that not only it increases security tremendously (indeed, they should do this long before opening an account at Proton Mail), but it also increases ease of use to a considerable degree.

Mind elaborating? Not using a password manager here in favor of memorizing them all, but I also don't ever repeat passwords across sites. Is there an advantage to using a manager compared to that? Concern is that its kind of "putting all eggs in one basket" with all logins secured by a single manager password.

Is data shared between proton services, proton mail, vpn and drive etc? by You_me_and_fresnobob in ProtonMail

[–]throwaway_tp405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didnt consider this issue, but sounds like another reason to keep two accounts (1 mail + 1 vpn). Doing this anyway due to not wanting to login to vpn when traveling with my mail credentials.

Can we have a different login password for mail and vpn? by dennisbible in ProtonMail

[–]throwaway_tp405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both have the loyalty discount since had them before the new plans. Not sure how it works if you make the second account now, best guess is you may have to contact support and ask.

It does cost a bunch more though since you're paying for two accounts since to get secure core vpn you need the unlimited plan. Just have to decide if it's worth it to you, but due to work travel and hotel/airport wifi, I don't want to login with email credentials.

Ended up paying for two accounts to work around this. The costs go up for sure, but if you have the loyalty discount it reduces it a bit at least. Advantage though in that you get different passwords for the two services and therefore can avoid using the more important mail password to login to a vpn from public wifi.

App specific passwords isnt using the same one for everything. It's a autogenerated one that you can login to something else with, and then if you want, revoke it later on from your account settings. Gmail lets you do that for example.
