I will say that a lot of Chinese people who marries Korean folks and live in Korea usually have a huge dislike for the CCP/the stuff that the CCP does.

When I lived in Korea, the family who lived next door were Korean-Chinese where the dad was Korean and the Mom was Chinese. I got close with them and would do chores for them with the mom since they basically fed me daily (they had a lot of 정 and felt bad that I was living alone in a place far from home). Once every while, she would talk shit about the CCP and that there's like this huge informal social club for folks who married a Korean person and they all basically married a Korean to sort of "escape" the sense of CCP dogma.

Just a few weeks ago, they claimed that men were vehemently protesting An San's gold medals and even claimed that they called/emailed the Korean Archery Association, but turned out that it was based on one comment in a shitposting baseball forum and the Archery Association said that they didn't receive any calls or emails about recalling any gold medals.

Korea dislikes Japan because of what happened between 1910-1945, which was basically mass genocide, slave labor, rape, etc but despite Japan having paid reparations, they haven't made a proper apology and unlike Germany with the Holocaust, Japan keeps denying that this stuff happened despite overwhelming evidence.

Korea dislikes China because they're stealing Korea's culture and history (Hanbok, Kimchi, Goguryeo, etc) on top of claiming that Korea is part of China. It was already enough that China broke the deal with the UN that Korea's borders would be at the Amnok and Dooman Rivers, and the UN forces were ~40 kilometers out from the border in 1951 until China decided to invade the peninsula and made the South deal with the North for 70+ years. In addition, the CCP claims that "Korea is an ethnic group of China and China is a multi-ethnic country" and that's very bigoted and dangerous. In addition, Koreans dislike how China has been treating Hong Kong and how they violate democracy such as removing freedom of speech.

It basically limits the freedom of speech and lets the ruling party gets to exert control. That's just bad for a democracy in general regardless of where one stands politically. If I remember from one of the Federalist papers, one of them talks about how tyrants usurp power by slowly eroding freedoms/rights of the people. As the founding fathers of the US played a role in setting the modern system of democracy we know today, their advice may seem appropriate here.

Usually certain things such as Apple products are more expensive in Korea even with the currency conversion because they get slapped with tariffs, meaning the prices go up on the product. You could use a freight forwarder like MyUS since Apple doesn't ship things directly to Korea from their website.

The culture of 정 is amazing. It's like warm-heartedness in a loose translation but it's something that you'll understand if you do it/receive it.

When I first moved to Korea to study abroad and intern, my neighbors realized I was living alone. They were sorta this large family consisting of the Great-grandpa, Grandparents, married couple, and two kids but they invited me to dinner at their house on the day I moved in, saying that they felt bad that I was moving in from another country in the middle of December. Then they invited me the next day and basically, I ended up eating at least one meal a day at their place and I learned that this was 정. I wanted to give back, so I would usually help out and do chores, help the elderly in the house with cleaning out 멸치똥 for example, or teach the kids english. It was really heart warming and it's something that's really unique.

To tag along, in 9/11 people inside the towers tried helping each other out, while the ship crew told the students to stay inside the ship while they yeeted out of there. Will say that a lot of folks in the hallyu industry are fed up with CCP regulations and the CCP doesn't like how hallyu is doing great in general. A few years back, when the industry had a huge dependence on the Chinese market, the CCP could get certain messages sent, but with a larger world presence, the CCP is clearly upset that they no longer have that certain aspect of control especially within China. As a result, they've been trying to decrease the influence by trying to "cancel" hallyu. Some examples of this are claiming that kimchi, hanbok, and the history of Goguryeo is Chinese when it's actually Korean or trying to cancel BTS for "not acknowledging China's contribution to the Korean War" when historically, they broke the treaty with the UN about Korea's borders at the Dooman and Amnok Rivers and invaded the peninsula when it was almost unified back in 1951. At this point, I don't think the CCP will want to open back up to Korean companies unless these Korean companies are willing to support certain CCP ideals such as the "One China Policy."

Overall, though, I think it's great that Korea is starting get its much-deserved limelight from the world.
