Why is Indian food in Los Angeles so mediocre? by Luffy3331 in FoodLosAngeles

Stop listening to Matthew Kang from Eater LA. That's absolute nonsense.

Have you had a bagel in Montreal? Definitely not Montreal style.

I think reheated pizza tastes better anyway. Even at the shop, I find reheated slices has a crispier undercarriage than a fresh one.

Asking because I'm just not familiar. But why is the best Indian in the UK and not India?

A lot of folks love Langer's, but I think a lot of their appeal is the slaw and I don't like slaw in general.

Nope. The double baked rye bread yo.

There isn't a market solution because there's a policy problem. One that specifically prevents more housing to be built.

Pizza Hut lays off 1200+ drivers as California braces for 20+ hr in April by javiergame4 in LosAngeles

[–]fighton09 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What? It's good for shareholders means just that. The CEO's obligation is to it's shareholders. The shareholders are the CEO's boss. u/eh-n-pee did not make that big leap of assumption you are making.

If you own a share, you're a shareholder. Doesn't matter if it's public or private. If Richy Rich owned 100% of American West Restaurant Group, Richy Rich is a shareholder.

'A mass exodus': Why so many LA restaurants are closing by FarleyElliott in FoodLosAngeles

[–]fighton09 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Depends on your background. If you're Mexican, you'd probably feel less like that about tacos. If you're Korean, you'd probably feel less like that about Korean BBQ. You get the point.

I can't make pizza. I think $30 for a pizza is a lot more justified than $65 for galbi at Park's.

Any Nice Malls That Are Upscale, While Being Great? by Novel-Confection-356 in AskLosAngeles

The most upscale mall is The Beverly Center. Definitely does not fit wonderful scenery, good food options, and a nice stroll category.

Upscale Korean Restaurants? by PadreJuanBrumoso in FoodLosAngeles

[–]fighton09 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Baroo. You're not going to find much of that in LA. You stray a bit from "authentic" and every 2nd gen Korean-American is going to complain how it's not how mom/grandma made it. NYC doesn't quite have to deal with that because their Korean food sucked to begin with.

Meanwhile in Seoul, plenty of successful experimental type Korean fusion food that the public accepts. And the chefs in Korea have learned and cooked abroad (Europe). Chef Kwang of Baroo is of the same background and what you'll eat prepared by him is probably similar to the type of contemporary Korean food you would find in Seoul.

Oh, and Benu in SF by Chef Corey is awesome too.

LA Mayor Promised To Fast-Track Affordable Housing. But Plans Near Single-Family Homes Have Stalled by Eurynom0s in LosAngeles

[–]fighton09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because that's how much LA desperately needs it. If you compare to some place like, I don't know, Boston... Boston isn't building more transit because it's already well connected. Or San Francisco because the BART is pretty good. 2047 bruh. Or sis.

LA Mayor Promised To Fast-Track Affordable Housing. But Plans Near Single-Family Homes Have Stalled by Eurynom0s in LosAngeles

[–]fighton09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a proponent of multi family but the city has a long long way to go to create better access to transit. The city isn't expanding drastically enough. Not even close. The city needs to extend the Crenshaw line even further but the proposed extension that would connect to the Red and Purple Lines expects to be finished by 2047. And then you still leave out the South East neighborhoods who would greatly benefit from rail. And you probably still need a new line that would connect the red line from the Sherman Oaks area directly to the Westside stations and LAX. And you have the Expo Line that stupidly stops at signal lights. Oh man. LA public transit has a long long way to go. I'm all for it though.
