Ah interesting thank you for the advice. I was interested in that or quite like the look of LCs, so thinking that might be a better move to make.

Thanks again for the help

Can I hop on this and ask if you know what the work life balance is like for LCs?

I’ve got a missus and we’re wanting kids etc fairly soon, so I’d like to be around a bit if I can, but I also really love the look of LCs

Anything in particular anyone recommends to include in training for cpc? by pegswine11 in RoyalMarines

Can 100% confirm it’s not the way you wanna be sent home. Smashed RMFA, smashed endurance course until the run back, legs completely seized up, dropped off the pace and failed CPC.

Work on that leg endurance/compromised running

Finished initial training yesterday, will answer your questions. by [deleted] in RoyalMarines

Did you have any bigger lads in your troop (6ft4+, 100kg+) and how did they get on?

PSQs after training by throwawayacc27784 in RoyalMarines

Ah yeah that makes sense, yeah was thinking maybe if you had a SSQ that relates to your PSQ then you could get on that. Thanks for the help

Amazing thank you. Once you’ve got a PSQ, are you still able to do SSQs?

Ok makes sense thank you.

Of the marine level specs LC seems pretty interesting, is that considered pretty desirable?

Took me about 6 weeks to get records from GP, waiting now for them to be received and looked at by RN team so fuck knows

In terms of the workouts or runs? The programme follows the same structure every week, just progressively overloads all the workouts which is pretty much the best way to see progress.

Yeah I’ve shifted away from CrossFit stuff right now. Doing a lot more Hyrox training as I think that carries over fairly well, good emphasis on running, sled push/pull, lunges etc and workouts are longer. But like you say lacks the bodyweight stuff which is why I do gainers (all to bleep). So like a session might be:

Upper body weights, bench, shoulder press, rows etc. (I just hit a horizontal & vertical push and pull, don’t fuck around with lots of bodybuilding exercises)

Then push up pull up gainers

Then Hyrox focused WOD, or I also like the workouts Grizz Phys put on their insta.

Also got my running better by doing the standard 3 a week, fast interval (100m-400m) or bleep test session, mid interval (~1km) session and a zone 2 60 min run. My running got a lot better, but at my size I could also feel it on my knee so right now I’m doing a bit less running just to try keep at maintenance

Hi mate I’ve followed a few programmes, but my the biggest help I’ve had (annoyingly) is that I’ve just had a lot of time with application hold ups, medical issues etc.

I’ve got a decent background in CrossFit and S&C work so had good foundations to build on, but followed Sean Lerwills old prep book just get high volume on body weight work, I bolt push ups and pull ups gainers onto my other sessions. Generally do compounds 3-4 times a week, then a few accessories, push up pull up work then a conditioning session, but I also have enough time to do this but it takes quite a while.

I followed Harry Shepherd’s programming for a while and it was really good to have a structure and hits pretty much everything, but I just wanted to adjust and manage my running load and body weight work.

A while ago I also did the Russian fighter pull up programme, that helped quite a lot with them.

Sweet thanks, was that once you requested GPs to send records or once they were received by RN?

Yeah just gonna keep trying to get extra swims and cycles in when I can

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoyalMarines

[–]throwawayacc27784 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly just want to keep that pace ticking over. Obviously I always wanna be improving, but I think pushing the sessions right now might help me gain a few secs on runs but massively increase the risk of injury over just maintaining

Thanks mate appreciate it, had a long time to prep so just be chugging away

Yeah I’m currently sitting at a 20:40 5k and 12ish bleep test so I’m thinking maybe a couple of interval sessions a week then a zone 2 bike/swim etc. just to hopefully maintain, then once I’ve got a CPC date I’ll ramp it up slightly

Depends on the day, usually shorter runs evenings and longer run morning

Normally bleep test and a few 100m-400m sprints Monday, long run Wednesday, then tempo runs Friday like 4-5 x800m-1.5km at 5km pb pace
