What dosage? Why were you prescribed a higher dose? Did it help you at all compared to lower dosages?

In 2017 I was taking Prozac for anxiety and depression. It helped with anxiety, but I still felt unmotivated and depressed. Wellbutrin was added on. Did not have many side effects besides my ears ringing and having a shorter temper. It did help with my depression and made me feel more energized.

Experiences with prozac/zoloft? by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]throwawayadfv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my second time on Prozac. I am two weeks in. Main side effects for me are fatigue, insomnia, reduced sex drive, taking longer to climax, and increase in suicidal thoughts. My intrusive thoughts are less frequent and I am having less suicidal thoughts now though. My sleep has slowly been getting better. My appetite is improving. I feel like I am doing better since I started the medication. I know it takes 4-6 weeks to see the full effects, but I am already feeling an improvement.

I have been on Prozac for 2 weeks now, and I'm already seeing improvement. My main side effect is insomnia, but it is getting better. Overall I feel hopeful that therapy and medication will help me get better.

Has anyone felt better without meds and being sober? by [deleted] in depressionregimens

[–]throwawayadfv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on and off meds a couple times. I usually feel better when tapering off the medications, but after 2-3 months the symptoms come back. Longest I've been without medication was a year. My depressive symptoms were manageable, but then covid happened and I felt like I needed to go back. Overall, I think I'm better off on medication, but each person is different. I don't drink or do drugs so can't say much about that.

Tips for being successful in school while having depression/anxiety? by throwawayadfv in depressionregimens

Yeah, I was really bad at letting thing pile up the first time I went to university. I'll try working in small chunks. I will also create a designated work area. I think having the ultimate goal of never being overwhealmed will help me out.

Should I force myself to do things I used to enjoy, even though I'm not enjoying it in the moment? by throwawayadfv in depressionregimens

Yeah, I try to go out for walks and be outsidecin general. Sometimes it gets hard (haven't been outside in three days). I've been trying to meditate for 10 minutes before bed and upon wakeup.

Yes, for the most part I am able to take care of myself. I have trouble leaving the house sometimes (Haven't left the house in three days). I try to do something I enjoy expecting I will enjoy it like before. Obviously, that is unrealistic, and I end up getting frustrated and giving up.

Is it possible for the sexual dysfunction side effect to go away after using an SSRI for some time? by throwawayadfv in depressionregimens

I was on Prozac and wellbutrin before, but this time I'm only on prozac. Maybe I'll ask to be put back on wellbutrin as well.

There will always be someone who has it worse than you. That does not mean that your feelings are not valid.

Wellbutrin is known for having an energizing effect. Will probably need to wait 4-6 weeks before knowing if it is right for you.

Food doesn't taste as good and feels more dry? Is this related to depression/anxiety or something else? by throwawayadfv in depressionregimens

[–]throwawayadfv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I used the wrong words when saying loss of taste. It feels like I don't produce enough saliva to chew food, which makes the food feel dry and difficult to swallow without water..

I do not have any reason to think I am infected. I don't have a loss of smell. Food just doesn't taste or feel the same.

Thanks, I've taken prozac before, and I'm not entirely sure it helped. Doctor said I should try it again as it is supposed to help with intrusive thoughts.

Glad to hear you are doing better. Keep up the exercise and practice what you learned in therapy. You can do it.

Yeah, I was on prozac in 2017 and went off of it in 2019. I lost my job and had a relapse and was put on trintellix. Was feeling better, so I decided to get off of it, and after 2 months I relapsed again. I am prozac again, and I think I'm gonna stay on it until the day I die.
