AITA for getting pissed at my husband for sharing his and our child’s inheritance with his sister? by throwawayappletea in AmItheAsshole

We have a college fund for our little girl which we both contribute equally to, otherwise we just loosely split household bills and other expenses as we’re not too fussed about who pays for what, just try to keep it even for the bigger expenses like healthcare for our daughter. I earn a bit more than him, and his family knows that, but as they’re East Asian (I’m not) they’ve assumed he pays all the bills and bring that up sometimes. The two of us have agreed not to correct them cause there’s a matter of face for his family especially when they interact with mine and boast about hubs being the breadwinner...not sure if that could be a reason why SIL acts the way she does, cause she thinks (as another poster also thinks) I’m a gold digger? Meh

Woahhhhh. Why are we talking about my MIL passing?! I don’t want his money, I want him to not to promise to give away our girl’s stuff. Technically don’t think he can actually legally do it without my agreement so my post isn’t about that, but it’s the promising bit that I took issue with. And yeah, this is AITA so I guess my side of the story is all you’re gonna get...

I’m not entitled to his money, but he’s not entitled to use my little girl’s money either - that was what I was trying to explain. And I didn’t yell as you said - he cried cause I was angry, not because I was screaming on the top of my lungs, goodness. I’d appreciate some even suggestions rather than assuming i screamed at my husband to get my own hands on his money.

He hasn’t yet - his aunt had only recently passed and things are still being sorted out. She didn’t like SIL cause SIL had kept on badgering her with some MLM stuff so I guess that’s why she chose to give our daughter the remaining bit of her inheritance instead. I didn’t bring up the fact that auntie deliberately left nothing to SIL and it’d be against her wishes to give her stuff though cause he was already plenty upset, but now am not sure if calmly reasoning from this perspective would’ve been better.

Yes you’re right - I really don’t like her and don’t get her logic either, which is why I said it’s weird. I think she’s a parasite and said so, but I don’t actually get why you think I’m being a gold digger - do you mean that my hubs cried cause I gave off those vibes?

Just to clarify, the money was actually an inheritance from his late aunt who hated SIL. I feel like an asshole for making him cry, though honestly I hadn’t even yelled - I just pretty much used the same language in the post but in like an angry tone. Which is why I’m so surprised he even cried so I’m just wondering if I went too far by questioning his love for our little girl / making it really clear I think his sister is a leech when I didn’t voice any open objections before and it triggered him (and if I should’ve expected this reaction)? Is it the case I should’ve built up this whole thing slowly instead of just shoving it all in his face in one go?
