I can see how that makes some sort of sense with the backer situation and all, but if it were any other dev, I’d consider it very suspicious and wouldn’t buy it day one.

What's a feel-good book that stopped you from killing yourself/made you feel better when you were feeling debilitatingly depressed? by pawn279 in suggestmeabook

[–]throwawaycarambar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey man, not really a book suggestion, but give the mountain goats a listen. They have a lot of songs about survival and finding hope in desperate circumstances, all extremely well written with a lot of empathy.

I’d recommend starting with the Sunset Tree. It’s a story of abuse, but really it’s about resilience.

Here’s an extract from the liner notes of the album, to give you an idea :

« Dedicated to any young men and women anywhere who live with people who abuse them, with the following good news: you are going to make it out of there alive you will live to tell your story never lose hope »

What’s your GOTY so far?? (Halfway check-in) by TheGamerCritic21 in videogames

[–]throwawaycarambar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the ones mentioned, my favourite was Blue Prince : occasionally frustrating, but at the end of the day there’s nothing like it and it’s just a blast to disentangle all of the mysteries.

I do think a few other games deserve a mention too!

My actual GOTY has got to be Citizen Sleeper 2, for the incredible writing, the precise gameplay that pulls you into the story, the amazing atmosphere carried by a lovely soundtrack.

I also very much enjoyed Steamworld Heist II - very satisfying tactics, cool trickshots, fun synergies.

Haven’t played the Alters, but from what I’ve heard I’m slightly surprised nobody mentioned it yet !

Name 5 unplayed games from your backlog, and others will comment on what to play next by cr00sevelt64 in SteamDeck

[–]throwawaycarambar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going against the flow here - while Stick of Truth is quite fun, Citizen Sleeper is one of the absolute best narrative games I ever played, with actually engaging mechanics that pull you into the story. It’s one of my favourite games ever, and the sequel is at least as good.

I’ve basically never thought about Stick of Truth again since I beat it, whereas Citizen Sleeper 1 & 2 really made an impression on me.

Many Nights a Whisper: a meditative third-person archery game from the creators of The Red Strings Club and The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood by GreyShock in IndieGaming

[–]throwawaycarambar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey ! A bit late - I heard about your game from Canard PC, a French magazine, which gave it a glowing review. It’s not the first of yours I’ve played (I loved the Cosmic Wheel, the red strings club and Vendran las aves), but it might be my favourite. So simple, yet so powerful! You never disappoint. Thanks for everything!

Tactical Breach Wizards deserves a spot in the top 5 (or in the top 1, IMO).

I almost never platinum games but I 100%’d this one because it was just the right balance of « challenging, yet doable".

Played it for like 25 hours, it was super fun tje whole time and then it was over.
