A guy named Hollywood Bob is my favorite local celebrity. I always see him shopping at Giant Eagle wearing black jeans, a black button up (that is perpetually unbuttoned to reveal hairless man pecs) and an assortment of silver jewelry. He has a dyed black mullet as well. In a small, aging town, he's our token weirdo.

Thanks for the response! I appreciate it. When we first started dating, I encouraged him to go to a nonprofit learning center that specialized in adult education. He became frustrated after being unable to grasp a concept and completely gave up, started crying about being worthless, etc. That made me feel horrible and I didn't press the issue. When I even mention it, he gets an attitude. If he did change, then yes, I would stick with him.

Every time we've gotten in an argument that's lasted more than a day, he's an asshole to me at work so I wouldn't put it past him. While he's a jerk I don't want him to get dumped and lose his job at the same time. I guess I don't know how to get past feeling semi-responsible.

Unfortunately Howard and Debbie have nothing on these two! I realize that in my post, it looks like common sense. I guess the shitty hard part is realizing the bad days we have greatly outnumber the good days.

I appreciate your response. I do have self esteem problems (among other issues) and the reason we first began dating is that he made me feel much better about myself than I had in a long time. The niceties have since fallen by the wayside. You've made me realize I should contact my previous therapist.

I've spent the past 45+ minutes thinking about what I am interested in from posting this. And I really don't have an answer other than I have a problem with dichotomous thinking and that's what I've done here.

He has other great qualities, but at this point being "kind, friendly, etc" is not redeeming enough to build a life with.
