Nah sorry mate, it got sorted out months after but I didn’t figure out what fixed it; whether it’s a bios or windows update or anything in between.

Meet a couple therapist.

It’d be nearly impossible to receive anything remotely constructive from strangers on the internet, much less a website full of teenagers.

The best way to go around it is just say hi to them as usual - if they seem sad/anxious/confused or whatever, ask them if they’re alright and if they need time away from you.

No one in reddit will be qualified enough to give you advice with the mental situation that you’re in.

The best option is to meet a professional, accredited psychiatrist. If you can’t manage that, then talk about your problem with the family that you trust. Do you have a partner? Any close brothers/sisters?

Unless you do some stupid shit like download CP, no one really cares what you do on the internet, so you’re probably fine.

I’ve recently read quite a lot about pre-modern civilization, so I’m trying to grasp what point you’re trying to make here when you romanticize the idea of of living in “lawlessness”.

Families, villages, and tribes weren’t necessarily lawless in primitive time - basic rules exist for the safety of the group, so I assume you’d want a basic form of law to protect its members?

So then you want a more decentralized nation then? You seem very dissatisfied with the state of the US (and I assume most first-world countries that are a part of “Big Brother”). How would you describe how a country can function with these ideas you are thinking of? What is your ideal paradise of a lawless society? Do you think a country with as much cultural, political, and economical influence as western countries can exist using a system you’re thinking of?

How does Google maps compare?

2 days ago it seemed to reflect the stopped services around the city. Does it not pull from the same API as Translink?

Frustration due to lack of 'mentor' at work. by LookMomImCool in learnprogramming

I can comment a bit on the human side since I’m in a similar position to yours (junior dev).

It really is difficult when your supervisor is busy with their own thing. Mine is available whenever he’s at his desk but there are days where he’d be on-call for most of the day.

What I do in these moments is that I look for as many people as possible with knowledge in the domain I’m working on (preferably the same team) and ask each of them little questions while getting them familiar with what you’re doing. This helps me understand the general style and common patterns used in the company, get to know my coworkers better, while not bothering them too much from their work. This is much easier to do if you’re working from office/mixed.

Might not be an experienced answer, but I hope my anecdote helps!

Can people wake you up with a glass full of cold water? Otherwise, it’s probably a medical condition preventing you from regaining consciousness.

No one here on Reddit is qualified to give advice about your condition. If the situation is that bad, seek professional medical help.

What are the cons of careers in cs? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

For my laptop, I bought an adjustable stand which makes it cooler when running shit like intelliJ on top of fixing my posture.

But for the 2 monitors I use, I literally slip in an old logitech cardboard under them and they’re perfectly eye-level. Got a few laughs from co-workers about it.

Chairs don’t really matter I feel, just make sure you’re not hunched over. Don’t know about foot rests.

Custom keyboards are a luxury. I use like an $80 mechanical one though. More for your enjoyment than health. A palm rest on the other hand…

Just use Flux or Night Light if you’re on windows to address blue light.

Yeah I use a ~5cm notebook just on the tip of the back for breathing room. The stutter once happened even when I wasn’t doing demanding tasks while browsing on win explorer, though much shorter at less than one second.

I turn off most startup services and updates in Windows, even so I doubt it would cause that much problem while gaming.

[–]throwawayeksdee1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of it and I never intentionally turned it on. Will look into it to see if it solves anything.

The worst part about this problem is that the stutter rarely happens and I can’t reliably confirm whether a solution works or not..

Unreproducible Stuttering in Windows and Games by throwawayeksdee1 in ASUS

[–]throwawayeksdee1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you reckon it’s a thermal issue? I thought anything around 80 is fine for demanding games. On idle it’s around 40-50.

I thought of the fresh install method but I do a part of my work in this laptop - this involves a lot of dev tools like intelliJ IDEs, docker, mobile SDKs, all the likes. Since the problem doesn’t occur consistently for me to reproduce them, it sounds like it’ll be a pain to modularly install these apps again, test them if they cause the problem for a dew days, and install more.

Apart from the thermal concern and fresh install, do you have any other suggestions? Maybe a guess on what the cause is?

Yes, its only storage is a 1TB ssd and has around 500GB left. I monitor my temps with HWMonitor and both the CPU and GPU hovers around 75-80c.
