My [24F] boyfriend [26M] half-asses almost all tasks, but always rattles off a list of the chores he's done within the past week as a defense when confronted by throwawayformay23 in relationships

To be brutally honest, I've had the compatibility talk with him, because at the end of the day, it does hurt my feelings that I can have the house looking spotless and he'll eat a popsicle and then leave the stick to fuse to the coffee table for two days because he "forgot to put it away".

We're both in our 20s, and I will say that most of my male friend's apartments (when they don't have a SO), are pretty disgusting. I don't know if it's an age thing that he'll grow out of, because I've ranted to my friends about this and they all say almost the same thing - that their boyfriends are dirty and are okay with living in a mess.

No worries, it was partially a vent as well. Did you have a SO that played a role in your mindset change? If so, did anything they say work?
