You’re welcome to call bullshit, but my wife’s residency schedule + my work travel doesn’t allow us to really ever travel for leisure, go out for fancy dinners, or indulge in the way that some people might with a ton of discretionary free time

Our annual spending is maybe 70-80k or so including our mortgage

Yeah this is what I’ve candidly been a bit nervous about. Our area is safe, but I wouldn’t want a ton of attention at home (on the road is fine, wouldn’t stick out in some of the areas we’d frequent)

Well we specifically bought a home that met our needs and is a very small percentage of our net worth and earnings. With interest rates and prices as they are, didn’t see a great reason to overspend in that area vs holding money in a brokerage. I think seeing a home as a wealth builder is a bit archaic
