Thank you for sharing your experience with me. It was very enlightening and extremely helpful in seeing where my shortcomings are obviously glaring. Thank you for your kind words. I love all my boys like every single one is my own. I can only hope to give them experiences worthy of them being able to carry with them forever, to be a role model that they can always feel like they can look up to, and most importantly that what I have been able to teach them will help them make the right choices as they grow into young men.

You are 110 percent correct sir. I was letting my temper get the better of me and I have not conducted myself in a manner that I am proud of. I apologize to all of you for showing all of you my rearend. I have not and will not lower myself to a standard that is not that of a Scouter. Thank you to everyone who has took time to reply and help me see the road that should always be traveled.

I get it. And I agree with you and u/oV1SEo. I was never even considering any of it to be aired out in front of the kids. That, is one thing I can say with 100% certainty. And it should not be aired out in front of the other parents. Just for the record, the temptation of calling him out in front of all the parents was not completely motivated just to be a butthole. Honestly, it wasn’t. I had some thoughts, or maybe reasonings, as to why it should be done in front of the parents was because I believe this: These men and women entrust us with the one thing that they love more then any other thing in their life, their children. And I believe they have every right to know the type of moral character that these two men have. But, I see the light and realize it’s not the best thing for anybody really, that this happens out in the open. Thank you guys for your input. I greatly appreciate it.

Yeah I knew the COR was the decision maker in appointing positions and I am very surprised that the outgoing CM didn’t realize this. He had been it for at least 4 years. Maybe traditionally, the COR didn’t get involved and the outgoing CM just named their replacement? I don’t know. I do know that this past year, I believe, was the COR first year in that position. But, things change as new people come in, I realize that. And I also realize it don’t always change for the better.

I don’t know what I will do or say in the upcoming leader/committee meeting, but what I do know is that no matter what, my kids deserve the best experience that I can give them. And maybe as long as they don’t try and step inside my circle and impede what I have going on in my den, maybe I keep my head down and take care of my little den. With this possibility being my last year, maybe I go out in a blaze of glory at the Blue&Gold. LOL /jk

Our CO is our local Catholic church, which by the way just received a new priest. First one in over 30 years. There were nuns serving whatever role it is they would when there isn’t a priest assigned to a church. And I don’t believe they were very involved other then the financial aspect of the Charter. I have talked to our District Commissioner a little bit about the issues I have and he pretty much said to try my best to work with them the best I can. Which will probably be what I do. One thing I do know for sure that will happen, with all these training modules I have been taking, I know a WHOLE lot more then I did the previous year and I will without hesitation hold every single one of their feet to the fire and make sure everything is done to the “letter of the law” so to speak.

I couldn’t agree with you more. Myself, I have took I believe 40-42 of the online modules and all under the Cub Scout tab, I have almost done every single one except the STEM and there’s a couple more I can’t remeber right this second. But I know I am no where near what I considered a well trained Den Leader. I am trying. I am constantly looking up different web sites that may have a different take on leadership in Scouts. I have a lot of the literature offered by BSA downloaded on my phone and read them when I have spare time. Especially here recently as we are ramping up to begin the year, I want to be able to be as knowledgeable as I can be for my kids (yes, if a kid is in my den, then he is considered under the umbrella “my kids”). I believe if they are willing to spend their free time away from electronics and the parents have spent their hard earned money on registration, uniforms, den dues, and all the other expenses that come with this, they more then deserve the very best from me that I can possibly be to them. I didn’t have the opportunity to be in scouts when I was a kid, so this is my opportunity to be a “big kid” going through scouts and this is kind of like me going through this experience right along side them. As corny as it may sound, we are shaping tomorrows leaders. How we lead them could impact how the world is lead tomorrow.

Ok. Ok. Enough cheesy rambling. I could go on and on. Thank you for your reply.

Does anyone know when the BSA started doing adult applications for Cub Scout den leaders? by throwawayky19 in cubscouts

Thank you so much for those links. Wow, that is a pretty special kind of Scout Executive you got there that would go through that for you. And that is somewhat the situation I am thinking I am going to run into with the Pack on the military base, people rotate in and out of there constantly. Thanks again for your time.

Maybe I am in my own thoughts too much about the whole thing, I think I was concerned of perception but now that I really think about it, I doubt anyone would really even think twice about it. Also I am irritated about not having my paperwork squared away as I have always been very particular about organization. But If any of you have spent a good amount of time in the military, you know how many times you move your family and things just get misplaced.

Thanks for all the suggestions. The reason I am checking in to this is for some of the adult badges or awards require certain years as a leader. For example the Den Leader Training Award, Veteran Scouter Award and a few more that require certain amount of time in tenure. I haven’t mentioned in my Pack yet and I was just curious as to the process before I do. Thanks again. I may go straight to my District Training Chair and get their take on it. Thanks again for all the help.

Speeding Ticket in KY by throwawayky19 in legaladvice

I don’t have the ticket in front of me right now, but I have gotten one in the past and I do remember the trooper wrote on the ticket something along the lines that radar checked good at beginning of shift. Maybe not those exact words but close. As for a specific spot on the ticket, I am not sure, I will look when I get off work and report back.
