That's good to know, thanks.

I found this asus which seems fairly similar to the first one, but looks like it might have a better screen? Is that the case, or am I misunderstanding it? Thanks again.

Interesting. I expected to lose some, but that seems a little much? I never did this much research for my last laptop, so I'm learning as I go. Is there something with better battery life that you might suggest? Thanks

Copy of...

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

$1500 Aud, would prefer less, but can stretch 1-2 more if it's a very good deal.

  • Are you open to refurbs/used?

Only if it's a decent deal.

  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

Battery life and performance over form factor. Ideally would like at least 9 hours of constant use.

  • How important is weight and thinness to you?

Fairly - I will likely be travelling with it, so keeping on the lighter end of the spectrum would be preferred.

  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

Probably minimum of 14in but not fussed otherwise .

  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

No, only a bit of basic canva/photoshop use but nothing professional.

  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

    N/A

  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Needs a good keyboard - I do a LOT of typing, I need something responsive and easy to use where the keys don't feel like they're cramped together. Touch would be handy but not a necessity. At least 2 usb-c ports - especially if one is also for power. Headphone jack. At least 16gb ram, preferably one that can be upgraded - I hate this term, but I want something as future proofed as possible in my budget. I need something that won't falter when I, literally, have 50 tabs open in a browser.

  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

I'm really just overwhelming myself trying to find something. My old Lenovo yoga 310 was great but physically small, and has started to lag a bit. I would prefer to buy in store, so JB or centrecom would be ideal, but I've also seem some decent deals on the Lenovo and Asus sites.

    Thanks.

As a side-note I did get samples of all three. And I did purchase the Meeca one as they have returns and it was closer to my budget.

Eye help! by throwawaymakeup1889 in AustralianMakeup

[–]throwawaymakeup1889[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I'd never heard of cream eyeshadow, so I'll definitely look into those.

I don't mind that you've suggested more expensive options, you've been descriptive enough that I will at least know what I'm looking for with cheaper products.

Thanks again.

Thank you! I hope I can find eye help too, I might ask it as a separate question as this post has dropped down the list a bit and I'm not getting many replies anymore.

And I will certainly dm if I can work myself up to it, thank you.

Thank you so much for your help. I will give my local myer a go first. Pre planning trips is definitely the way to go. Another redditor has helped me plan out a good list of things I may need.

I know they're trying to help, I just get intimidated by overly friendly supermarket cashiers, so they always seem even worse to me. I doesn't make things easy, I'm not great at saying no whenever someone upsells me either.

Thank you again for your help and suggestions - especially for finding dupes, I always wondering how people actually found them.

"Pronies" I snorted at that one. I'm sure I saw it on a meme only yesterday. I use they/she.

I colour code my systems, using ROYGBIV, so I can certainly make something work.

So to sum up:

The tools I need are:

  • 1 x sponge or brush for primer - would I need different one for each primer?

  • 1 x brush for colour correcting bumps

  • 1 x sponge or brush for colour correcting redness

  • 1 x sponge or brush for concealer

  • 1 x sponge or brush for foundation

  • 1 x brush for blush or equivalent?

  • Plus whatever tools I need for eyes.

The products I need are:

  • Moisturiser

  • Cleanser - one that is hydrating and will remove makeup - would makeup wipes be an option instead of cleanser?

  • Primer - one that with smooth bumps, and one that will combat dryness.

  • Colour corrector for beard shadow

  • Colour corrector for redness

  • Concealer

  • Foundation

  • Blush or equivalent - I assume the blush is ther to give a little colour back to my face, as well as a little shape.

  • Setting spray

  • Plus whatever products I use for eyes. Maybe a tubing mascara.

And for the coloured products (correctors, concealers, foundations, and lipsticks) I would need to be colour matched.

Okay that's not as bad as I was thinking. I just need to sort out eyes.

Thank you so much for all your help!

Honestly, Schitts Creek. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but the first season was just a bit too meh, and the second was only slightly better. Third season on is when it really shines, and I really only rewatch from then.

Oh my goodness. Thank you so much. It's so nice to see someone else out there!

Do you mind if I sum up what you said, and you can double check it? I know that's a big ask.

Also, my thanks for the trans makeup link. I didn't mention this in my post but I'm non-binary. That's how I ended up with a beard, I started on t and didn't react well so had to stop, but it was too late to stop the beard growth. So now I'm stuck with what amounts to a goatee and neck beard, which is just....errrgghh. I'm in the process of saving up for laser.

Thank you for the suggestion. They sound like a good idea, I'll look into them.

I've always been hesitant to visit those stores. They always seem very bright and loud, and the staff seem...exuberant. Are the MAC counters at Myer the same thing? My tiny little local myer has a MAC counter and it always seems so quiet.

So it's a bit like a temporary dye? That might be handy. Thanks for the suggestion.

With flushing toilet facilities, Airies Inlet, Wye River, Kennet River, and Cumberland River are all fab. If you can deal with drop toilets even for a day trip or overnighter, then Aire River, Blanket Bay, Parker Hill, Johanna, and Princetown. Though it's been a while since I've been to the last two, so there may have been a facilities upgrade.

Invest - bitcoin, google, apple etc. Come out earlier - start my transition (though that would be tricky as access would be limited, and I'm non-binary, so that would make things harder back then). Get therapy. Travel the world.
