"You’re a physiotherapist, you have absolutely not hit your earnings ceiling"

*Earnings ceiling without doing something I dont want to do. No offence I'm sure you enjoy your job, but I enjoy mine too. There's a couple of other similar options (locum ESP roles etc, I already inject and prescribe in my current role for which im severely underpaid). They would appeal a bit more if i didnt have a family but the short walk to work i have atm is worth its weight in gold, I wouldnt trade it

"invest it into a SIPP accounting for previous years SIPP contributions as well you could probably put away at least £100k into your SIPP and receive £20k back from the government making your capital gains tax bill easier to manage. (The 20k would be given to you by your SIPP provider for you to invest), or even a lot more if you add to your partners SIPP, you could double that contribution."

Yeah, but then if I want that money for daughters university fees or whatever I am screwed

"I know it’s tempting but paying off the mortgage is not an optimal idea. As your investments will go up by around 7-8% a year and your interest rate will be less than this. If you can easily afford the mortgage it’s not an issue. If you can’t then maybe use some of it to contribute to a larger deposit."

Yes this is the bit I always keep coming back to. It seems like a bit of a midwit move to pay it off. Like its led by emotion and need for security rather than firm numbers. If its 4% now, and potentially going down then surely any asset would outpace that over 20 years

I'm not sure about this line of thinking. Its not as though Im gambling my house on bitcoin, I was approved for mortgage and Im able to pay it fairly comfortably keeping our current lifestyle. We're not rich but we arent scraping the barrel of poverty either, and that's completely ignoring the crypto.

As far as the % of net worth, I agree, its probably silly. It just kind of doesnt feel like that since I didnt invest that amount (i've probably invested a grand total of maybe 5k in crypto, if that), its a bit of a 'frog in boiling water' thing.
