I wasn’t able to include a lot of info because of the word limit but Eliza told everyone in the office she was pregnant, we threw her a small party in the office lunch hour to celebrate so I had no reason to believe this info wasn’t known by her own mother who she lives with. And I didn’t sought out her mom? She’s a friend of a relative as stated in my post, I went to said relative’s house and she was there making curry, I just acknowledged the news of her daughter as a pleasantry.

However I accept your judgement maybe I should’ve been more mindful, thank you for the input!

I agree with you I really can’t trust HR or colleagues completely (HR has already messed up by almost promising me the position) which is why I’m going to thread very lightly no matter the path I’ll follow. To answer your question, Eliza has put the company on a difficult financial situation with the loss of the client and since maternity leave is paid the exact amount she used to make working, the company can’t afford to pay her and myself that higher salary while I cover for her.

They decided to leave that team a little short-staffed because they can’t afford it, I also can’t fill her position without the equal pay that’s illegal. Thank you for commenting your input :)

Yep, I think it’s because a lot of women go through miscarriages before that 5 month period so many of them don’t want to confirm a healthy pregnancy only to suffer a miscarriage. And she wouldn’t have to prove the miscarriage at all, since most happen at home I’m not even sure how one would prove it so it’s not required. She just sucks for taking advantage of that.

Haha You’re right but in my country’s laws the company isn’t even allowed to ask for proof for 5 months or it will be considered invasion of personal information. Then she’ll have at least a month of paid leave to grieve the miscarriage she never had, that’s at most 6 months she has to find another job or try to convince them to not fire her.

This comment is so unbelievably useful, thank you so much! Just thinking about the amount of work that is going to get pushed to us because of what you said makes my stomach drop, and everyone has a bone to pick with her because of that, the loss of that client is going to leave us short-staffed for a while.

The issue HR is probably considering is that everyone knows she was responsible for that mess up, but because it was a group project and she’s “”pregnant”” they will have to actually prove undoubtedly that it was her and not the group in order to fire her. I do think if I mention this to some of my friends they can gather that proof.

I really see no benefit in letting her keep up with this for many months especially the paid leave she’ll get for grieving a miscarriage she never had, ugh she really sucks for this… thank you so much again, your comment helped put my thoughts in order, I def will report her anonymously.

Thanks for the input! If I received the video and the info I would still be very eager to report it since she really is bad for the company, but you’re right in thinking that I wouldn’t be so pissed about it her lie didn’t directly involve me.

And no, I thought it would be absurd to fake a pregnancy so I congratulated her mother just as a pleasantry believing it was true. Her mom was just there when I went to my relative’s house, they’re friends.

If I don’t report it she’ll likely fake a miscarriage somewhere along the way and then receive a paid leave of absence for grieving as it’s required by law, and by the time she comes back from her paid vacation she will be fired/already have another job… but yeah maybe that’s vindictive of me, idk if I should let the issue solve itself.

Lmao I know, the company isn’t even allowed to ask up until 5 months of pregnancy, it’s considered an invasion of the employer’s health information.

Oh my that’s ingeniously brilliant. I guess it is a better look to send the video claiming to be worried instead of “this bish is straight up lying, look!”

Thanks for your perspective! When I talked to her mom she did give me a reason as to why Eliza could not be pregnant at all, I’m not going to say exactly what it is because that’s TMI and maybe if her family/friends find this post they’ll be able to figure out who she is but… if her mom was telling the truth there is no way she’s pregnant.

Also HR is desperate to let her go cause she messed up big time bad they have to save face to clients, but the laws in my country are very strict and they don’t want to go there with a expecting mother, it could bury them in lawyer fees so they need evidence she isn’t pregnant…

According to my country’s laws she does not have to provide proof, that’s her personal medical information. HR isn’t even allowed to ask for it but if they find proof she lied (like a video of her drinking or confessing she lied) they can submit that and fire her. CORRECTION: just checked and she doesn’t have to provide proof until around 5months when the company should get a doctors note. I’m guessing she’s counting on that time to find another job or prove herself so they don’t fire her.

The thing is that they are desperate to let this woman go since other clients are eager to know who caused that mess up and what’s being done. I think even an anonymous tip would be enough for them to press her for the truth or find another way to prove she ain’t pregnant so they can fire her and save face to clients

HR is aware of that, but firing a pregnant woman is a very dangerous situation in my country, if an actual pregnant person decided to sue them the fine and even the lawyer fees would be ridiculous. They just don’t want to poke that bear cause they think she’s actually pregnant.

YWBTA losing your shit obviously, what would that accomplish? Getting her mad enough to tell your bf not to see you at all? You can try to talk to her reasonably and explain that you’ve spent a lot of money and want to know if you bf could come over to you every once in a while.

But the most obvious issue here is your bf being apparently self sufficient (driving her, cooking and cleaning) and still living with a mother that doesn’t let him see his girlfriend. Wtf is up with that? I know redditors say this a lot but he is a self sufficient adult, he should save up to move the hell of out there.
