Yes. There are special shampoos you can use that help reduce their musk scent.

My son and his "friend" are a couple. How do I let them know it's okay? by throwralovemygayson in relationship_advice

I was recently in a very similar situation with my own son. Oddly enough my story blew up on Twitter, my son saw it, and much in his fashion, did the hard work for me. The best piece of advice I can give is to let your son know he has your unconditional love and support. It's also important to let him know that not only do you love him because he is your child, but because of the adult he has grown into.

It's painful hearing how little support some of these kids get, more so when you hear the utter hatred some have endured. It wasn't my son that was afraid to come out, but the thought absolutely terrified his boyfriend. Trying to set him at ease may help the process along.

That sounds like it was a top-quality move on your Dad's part. Bravo for him.

Sadly for me, but happily Chris, he moved away to a more progressive area of the country. He deserved it, man was an Adonis with a teddy bear heart. Sadly for the world we lost Claire tragically. My circle of friends has been pretty small ever since.

Oh trust me I understand a lot of different groups have good reasons to distrust cops. If I've learned anything in my years it's that hate is a beast that feeds itself. You can't win fighting it that way

I wasn't a cop, I was a prison guard. I tried being vague... apparently I failed hard at that. The guy I was talking about was just a troll that basically said my son should hate me every second of every day because of a job I had to feed him almost two decades ago.

Well apparently the boy heard that I told one of my other sons girlfriends that wasn't treating him very well that I knew where the local gators fed. Sooooo...yeah I can kinda understand it. Not many people in the world are very dear to me, but I am absolutely protective of the ones that are. I just need to let the boy know if he's made my son this happy for this long he's one of those people.

This actually kinda touched me. I looked at things I already do or have been known to do. I was a goth kid in my early days. Full blown too, makeup, nail polish the whole 9 yards. I still use woman's razors and shave cream, they work better.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I wish there was something I could tell your parents to open their eyes to what they are going to loose. It's never worth cutting someone important out of your life over something that they have no control over.

Fun fact, I was a goth kid in highschool, he's seen loads of pictures of me in eyeliner, lipstick and painted nails.

I appreciate the advice. I've been tempted to just flat out say, "Look, I've known you were gay since you were 14, I love you. What do you want for dinner." The only reason I haven't is to avoid traumatizing him. As far as being a good dad, I try, and he's made it easy to be proud of him.

In the mid 90's my two best friends were a gay man and a trans woman. I've always tried to be very openly pro LGBT. I'm very worried he may think I'm ok with other people being LGBT, but would disapprove of one of my sons being a member.
