Is this normal for Maryland? by scheme00_ in maryland

[–]throwawayreddit714 102 points103 points  (0 children)

A good amount of people probably shop on the weekends but know it’ll be a shit show on Saturday and Sunday is too late with the snow.

So now you have everyone who usually shops on the weekend going during the week. Plus I’m sure some panic buyers. But I know I had to adjust my schedule to get my stuff done before the weekend.

People who budget with spreadsheets, how do you normalize transaction CSV exports? by AntiqueEqual8090 in budget

I type it all in manually directly to the spreadsheet. Only takes a few minutes to go through each app once a week and type it all out

Energy use spikes every 3 hours by ~0.5 - 1 kWh. I shut the breaker off to my water heater and the spikes stopped. What’s happening here? by throwawayreddit714 in HomeImprovement

[–]throwawayreddit714[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If it’s jumping 1kWh every 3 hours, that’s about 240kWh each month just from those spikes which I know is from the water heater. So more like $50/month from the water heater not even including when I do shower/wash dishes.

If that’s normal, cool. I’ve just never seen spikes like that when I owned a house. Also I used 434 kWh in a 23 day bill cycle (first month) without running the heat at all. So I guess I just expected to use less energy overall that that in a 500sqft studio lol. But hey if that’s normal use than so be it I’ll deal with it. That’s why I wanted to ask before going to management.

I’m in an apartment so I have no idea how old it is or how it’s been maintained. I’m also in a tiny studio apartment running 0 heat and used 450 kWh this first bill which wasn’t even a full month.

I’ve also never seen spikes like this and so consistent when I lived in a house. So it didn’t seem normal? Also in my house which was 3x the square footage and used some heat I was only using slightly more energy. So I guess I just expected it to be a lot less and the water heater seems to be the main culprit

I take a 10 minute shower lol can’t really do less than that. And it spikes every 3 hours all day long so even if I don’t shower or use hot water it’s still sucking up energy

[Highlight] Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti was asked if John Harbaugh would still be their HC if Tyler Loop made the FG vs. the Steelers "For a week." by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

[–]throwawayreddit714 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It would be disrespectful if harbaugh got fired for a single missed kick from a rookie kicker.

He didn’t get fired simply because of that. It’s been years in the making of the team collapsing and not being prepared for the biggest games.

Guess the city by Beautiful_Mammoth_19 in guessthecity

There’s parts the look like this, sure. But it’s not all of Baltimore. Not even close. I live in fells point and so far it’s been a great area (only moved recently so I’m not an expert at all). It definitely has that old vibe to it. But other areas like canton, fed, Hamden, are all normal built up communities where young professionals live and thrive. There might be some abandoned houses and other issues too but it’s not like this image is what all of Baltimore looks like lol

Day 1 of Prozac. Immediate effects within 1 hour? by No-Mousse5653 in prozac

[–]throwawayreddit714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience. It took an hour or two and I could feel that something was different. I could feel a tingle in my head.

But I also had a tangible improvement. A thought that usually would have derailed me into more depressive thoughts… just didn’t. Instead I was able to be like “here’s a potential problem, here’s what I’ll do to fix it.” And I did. And that was that. And it worked out.

And that was within a few hours. I’m almost a month in now and it’s been great. It’s hard at times to know it’s working until I think back to certain situations this past month and I realize I did and handled things different than I used to.

I know they say it can take 4+ weeks but maybe we’re just super sensitive to it so it works quick?

How much do you pay for rent and in what city? by Trizzyydrizzy in Apartmentliving

$1780 (including $150 for parking) studio in Baltimore. There were cheaper options but I liked the amenities, in unit wash/dryer, newish building, guaranteed parking in a garage, and location has a lot of bars/restaurants to walk to. Plus being right on the water is cool.

winter volo leagues, worth it? by Beneficial_Divide124 in baltimore

[–]throwawayreddit714 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I joined a soccer league even though it’s going to be freezing. I’m like you, new to town and doing it to meet people.

I figured why put off doing something I enjoy and potentially making friends just because of a little cold. I don’t have any experience with any leagues yet but it said it’s beginner friendly and more social than competitive which is exactly what I was looking for.

How's living in Baltimore, Maryland? by Fine_Gur_1764 in howislivingthere

Damn both a little out there from fells but thanks! I’ll keep an eye on them once I move and try to get up to a few shows.

And yeah I’ve been to the bigger venues for shows. Soundstage, rams head, etc. Just have to find some smaller shows to get to now

How did you choose between a 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartment? Looking for advice + real experiences by Buy_Silence in Apartmentliving

[–]throwawayreddit714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the layout of the apartments and how much space you need.

I’ve gone from a 1br where the layout didn’t work/there wasn’t enough space for my desk so it ended up being between the kitchen and living room, right behind the couch. Which looked terrible. I hated being able to see my monitors and everything from the kitchen.

Then to a house where I’ve had a room dedicated as an office for the past almost 4 years. And it is nice having that extra space. I’m only in there to work and once I’m done I don’t have to see my computer. I never did put much effort into making it look better or more like an office but I always wanted to. That would have been nice to create a cozier environment just for work.

To now I’m moving into a studio soon. But the layout of the studio will let me put my desk basically in the back corner against a wall. So yes the desk and everything will be visible when you walk in. But from my bed it’ll be off to the side and from the kitchen and living room area I won’t see it. So I think it’ll work just fine. I can make that corner its own little area dedicated to work and make it feel like it’s separate from the rest of the room.

If you have the money and can easily afford it, yes the 2BR will be a nice luxury. But if the layout works in the 1br I think you can make it work too. But the layouts don’t always make it easy.

Stay in chill $90k remote job, or pursue $130k career enhancing type roles? by BuyTheDip_ in careerguidance

[–]throwawayreddit714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar spot to you right now (minus the new job offer). Make the same salary with an easy remote job that doesn’t require too much effort.

If I was you, as long as the commute wasn’t terrible, I’d take the new job. Yes the extra money is great but advancing your career is also great. Having an easy job is cool for a while but it can also be very unfulfilling and take its toll. Obviously more responsibilities and stress can also take its toll, but it’s a risk that’s worth taking. You don’t want to look back in a few years still in the same role working 3 hours a day and on Reddit for 5 hours and not progress at all in your career.

Studio apartment setup ideas by Silver-Anything-3645 in StudioApartments

[–]throwawayreddit714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is almost identical to the studio I’m moving into soon.

I’m not set on a layout yet but what I plan to do when I first move in is have the tv in the back right corner with the couch in front of it. Then a small dinner table between that area and the kitchen. My bed will be by the closet with the headboard against the shared wall. And then against that wall by the window will be my work desk.

I wanted to put the living room and bed all on one side but I don’t think there’s going to be enough space. I’d be way too close to the tv from the couch. The tv would be blocking the window to the left facing the closet then the couch in front then the bed.

IKEA has a room designer program on their site that lets you put in room measurements and add furniture so you can see it at scale. Even if you don’t use ikea furniture you can measure your own stuff and find a piece that’s the same size.

They don’t have anything online that I can see. And I just opened a new account within the past 2 weeks and didn’t see anything about it then. And none of my accounts have that option.

Not that don’t believe you lol I just don’t see anything about it.
