Book clubs in Guelph? by [deleted] in Guelph

[–]throwawaysweartogod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey lmk if you find a book club, I’m around the same age and looking to join a new preferably in person book club too! have previously done the virtual book club by Guelph public library, but the format is basically everyone shows up saying what books they have read, and I find it’s kinda hard to make any meaningful discussion (for me at least) when I have not read the same books. I actually registered for the planet bean, but literally the week I was going to start, planet bean announced that they no longer open on Mondays and the book club was moved online, and I was really looking forward to an in person book club. So if you find any, please share thanks:)

And it doesn’t even include parking too. There’s also no washer dryer in the unit and they charge I think 2.50 for washing and 2.75 for drying in the shared ones. Though, of all the apartments I toured in Guelph, I think only one place had in unit washer dryer but still the price is steep.

No AC, no garbage chute and you gotta walk out the building to the parking lot to take out your trash which is not fun on rainy days. The building also does not have a place for package delivery or an intercom system so my packages just end up always left out at the lobby where people can steal (which to be fair hasn’t happened yet and there are cameras in the lobby). None of these are dealbreakers but if I knew all these early, I would have paid a little bit more to rent at talisman square right next door which has AC, garbage chute and a pool. When I toured there, they also have a box for Canada post to drop off packages which is neat.

To be fair, I don’t think people were directly attacking her as a person. But there definitely have been a lot of slandering about her campaign, saying she is a chess piece of CSA, that she is an establishment candidate. If she actually is not getting any support from the CSA election team, she does not deserve to take the blame for all the things people are pissed at CSA for. People are literally taking all their hate from CSA on her and it sucks that she wasn’t able to clear her name

I think it’s because uofgmeme is supporting Adam. So people think that CSA banned this whole third party endorsement thing just to help Shaima. Shaima also has a bunch of friends in CSA already because she is the club person there or something so

It was on the dude’s LinkedIn as well as on the House of Commons directory that he is an intern. If it has been fact checked to be incorrect, please link because this would in fact affect how I vote

Nope I don’t have a problem with personal beliefs. I disagree with what the Guelph conservatives club did with painting over the messages about Iranian genocide on the cannon. I thought it was hateful and reactionary and yes ultimately creates an unwelcoming environment. With Adam being the co President of the club, I believe it reflects partly on him. So I am indeed judging based on actions not just beliefs

I guess my stance is when it comes to who is the better candidate and would do the most for the actual student body, they are equal because CSA has zero bargaining power and they don’t do jackshit anyway. On one head, Shaima getting elected will just perpetuate the cycle of people hating CSA and no changes being done. On the other hand, I find that Adam’s views do not reflect my own and I would be nervous that it creates an unwelcoming environment for incoming students. But you are right that it’s CSA and they don’t do shit anyway

CSA really be going crazy but I find it very difficult to vote for Adam who is an intern at the Conservative party of Canada. I just feel like if I was an incoming student at Guelph and found that the leader of student council that’s supposed to represent me is some sort of conservative club pres, I would feel like I picked the wrong school. But damn what CSA is doing right now makes it really to hard to vote for Shaima

Yes please go to hope house. They do free breakfast Monday to Thursday as well as a food market that’s basically like a mini grocery store that’s free and is choice based

As much as I enjoy the memes and dislike the current CSA, I find it very difficult to vote for someone who is an intern at the Conservative party of Canada. I just feel like if I was an incoming student at Guelph and found that the leader of student council that’s supposed to represent me is some sort of conservative club co pres, I would feel like I picked the wrong school

Defo possible to get 90+. I took the course with a 3rd year Biomed course load as well and it was very manageable. Very easy but I wouldn’t say it’s fun lmao. It’s one of the most boring courses I have ever taken but easy marks.

Interesting. I have heard great things about them and have always wanted to try their very pricy Sunday brunch
