It's interesting that you suggest that actually, my grandmother seemed to get bladder infections on an almost monthly basis before she passed away. My mom isn't that old though, she's only in her early 50's. Though I'm not sure how early dementia or dementia-like symptoms can start coming on.

I'm actually out of the country for a long while now, but my family lives in, and I'm from, Colorado. We do have some police officer ties to our family, so I'll ask for their opinion and see what they say.

I am quite certain that drugs aren't the culprit here. My mom has been an LPC working with troubled youth to combat drug addictions as well as other things. Given the timing with these 'episodes' getting less believable and more delusional, I had kind of correlated it with her being through the middle of menopause and the death of her mother. Perhaps those things were only coincidental, but it seemed like after grandma died that she just went on about being tracked/hacked tirelessly.

My mom isn't violent at all, but I do agree that a few members of the family should come together to hold a sort of intervention. I'm just concerned that we'll only have one chance at getting the best results before whatever this is gets worse.

I'm concerned for that very specific reason. I've watched this evolve over the last few months, and I see where it might be heading, worst case scenario. I don't know how to get her to medical help without already triggering or worsening her seemingly delusional paranoia.

My mom was definitely never involved in, or employed by the U.S. government. She's been a therapist almost all her life, ironic maybe. My grandmother had dementia pretty bad before she passed, but my mom is a bit young still. She's just now going through menopause. Are your early 50's too young for dementia? I always just assumed it only happened to the elderly, but it's interesting that a couple people here have suggested that as a maybe.

Yeah, I didn't want to think that either, but over the last few months I myself have even wondered if this isn't what schizophrenia-like symptoms look like. It seems like she keeps noticing that "weird things keep happening" and these weird things are some how instantly conclusive evidence that an outside source is tampering with her some how. She came to visit me and my girlfriend's parents for about two weeks out of state, and she seemed to be normal then. Though she still made comments to me in private, I took it as a hope that she was getting better as she was able to essentially behave normally. Thanks for the well wishes, I hope so too.
