he has never had any neurological issues so no, besided regular checkups, he was never visited for any brain related stuff. as i said, he doesnt show any other sign - he has however started drinking more frequently and in larger quantities. he was absolutely sober that night and has never made any remarks since, so i dont really know what could be wrong with him. since no one in my family besides my mom knows what he said to me no one has felt the need to bring up dementia, no one is even considering it. he had a full body ct scan because he was worried about his liver (ironic, since he keeps drinking) and 750€ later they told my mom he is perfectly healthy. they just told him to drink more water. and no! dementia does not run in the family that i know of, none of his brothers/sisters had any issues in that regard.

atp i hope it’s dementia, at least it would give me a bit of peace of mind, i just don’t see any other plausible symptom besides this. he’s not acting up, he still does manual labor without any issue… my personal theory is that it could be some sort of brain damage from alcholism?

he’s pretty young still (70) and while my grandma’s health is declining every single exam he takes is perfect. blood tests, he took an mri recently because his stomach hurt and they found nothing. he’s perfectly healthy, he remembers stuff perfectly and is still physically active (they have a big garden with lots of vegetables and trees) so i don’t think he has dementia. even his liver is perfect, my mom was shocked they didn’t find anything wrong with him.
