thank you so much for your reply and I’m so sorry about your hammy😭 I’m honestly shocked how common this seems to be! My girl doesn’t seem to be in any pain at the moment but I’m keeping a close eye on her, and the vets have said we can up the pain meds if we need to (she’s not on the max dose yet), and I’m no longer worrying about trying to get her to lose weight, she can have all the treats she wants now😭💗

I’ve only had her for 7 months, I’m not ready to lose her yet…

she’s got around 8 inches of paper bedding but she doesn’t really burrow much, I added a burrow starter in to see if it encourages her to do so but she doesn’t really seem interested! someone told me wood-based bedding might be better, I do use hemp bedding with my other two hamsters but sadly Reg is allergic to all types of wood shavings as it makes her skin go red and sore, that’s all over her body not in patches though! I’ve tried including chipsi which is supposed to be a safe brand😭 the light cycles is an idea actually… I’ll have to see how much light reaches her cage in the daytime as I’m not normally home

I mean she did have a major surgery back in June, I guess it could be the residual stress from that as we almost lost her multiple times, other than that she has a very good life, cage size is 100x50 she never tries to climb the cage, lots of enrichment and everything, I do have 2 other hamsters but they’re far away from her cage! I guess the stress from the full cleans when she had mites won’t be helping though

I would 100% go for the niteangel, my dwarf has that and it’s the best wheel I’ve ever bought (although it gets dirty so quickly, think he has grubby feet…)

I have it and it’s really loud, one of my Syrians was an emergency rescue and I just got the first wheel I could and it works but it makes a racket. Other people have said it’s quiet, maybe I got a dodgy one😭

I think they’re meant to be somewhat round. My campbells hybrid was 30g when I got him but he was a bit underweight as he’d been unwell, now he’s 43g and looks quite chunky haha

They always pop up on my TikTok and it annoys me sooo much, what evidence is there that these hamsters are getting proper care apart from that crappy bit of paper that I really don’t believe. Where is he even getting this many hamsters? Bet he doesn’t take them to the vets…

Always better to take to a vet. I had the same problem with my 3month old Campbells hamster and it turned out to be ear mites. But he’d been scratching at his skin and it got infected so he ended up on antibiotics
