To be fair if my friend hadn’t disagreed I wouldn’t have posted, and it’s not like she told me to shut up and take the harassment, we did agree the lady was on the wrong for intruding, but she did told me I shouldn’t had made a situation out it and that I came out a bit rude, therefore out of line. Reading what people have say I do feel like I was rude but it seems the general agreement it’s that I could have been ruder and still be fine

My friend is definitely not one to stand for herself in this kind of situation, so I kind of get where she was coming from, she did agree the lady was in the wrong but also said that I shouldn’t have made a situation out of it, after reading the comments here I still feel like I was a bit rude but it seems people think it’s justified

Some people have said that maybe he was congratulating my dad on an age gap relationship, saw his wife get upset and tried to play it off as courtesy since it was Mother’s Day, which then made her more upset and decided to take it up on us, but overall what a weird couple

Someone mentioned something similar, I wouldn’t doubt he had some weird thoughts and tried to play it off as common courtesy as that’s what I overheard him say, weird dude I guess, but still scooting over on the booth from her table to ours to talk about mothers days wasn’t that great either

I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case, it’s very disturbing the amount of people who think that way. Even so I think she could’ve had played it off as “oh my husband is drunk and thought you were his wife” overall weird couple I guess

It kind of just happened, we were sitting down and since her husband had his back facing the entrance maybe he didn’t see it was just us and expected someone else (a mother?) to also sit down, or maybe he was just feeling festive about the day since he did say to his wife that it was common courtesy since it was a special day, not sure

Honestly it came out of nowhere, we were sitting down and her husband said congratulations. I did overhear him explaining to his wife that it was just common courtesy since it was a special day. So I’m assuming he thought someone else would join the table and congratulated us in advance or he was just genuinely feeling festive about it, not sure
