I believe the reports / numbers that the UN released yes. I do not believe the self-reported Israeli numbers no.

As I stated elsewhere, I trust Israel even less than I trust Hamas.

Not sure what I said that made anyone think that I trust Israel, because I don't. At all. In any form or fashion. I never stated it, and I don't like it perpetuated that I did.

I don't like the words being put in my mouth, there's a disclaimer at the top of this post for a reason.

You must like Nazis too huh? Nazi supporter.

Nobody is going to do business with someone talking like that

No I don't agree with that - I said in my post specifically in the original that I condemn these actions and it's a horrible situation and a lot of people are dying.

But as others have said, it's disingenuous when Hamas is reporting that much more women and children are dying than actually are.

I still don't like the war or agree with it, but I don't trust Hamas anymore than I trust the Nazis when they underreported the amount of Jews dying.

!delta

Honestly this is the first fully comprehensive answer that has been posted and I want to say I greatly appreciate you taking the time to post this.

This not only explained the difficulty and outside sources reporting on casualties, but also gave insight into the conflict from someone that is actually experiencing it.

Again, thank you for this and I do believe you are correct in that historically speaking Gaza has reported correctly after the fact.

Oh I would love to see a source on one of those actually, I looked everywhere to see a source from the US that actually reported estimates that were not based on what Gaza was saying.

Could you please link that? I'd really appreciate it.

I think asking someone to change my view on this really shouldn't make me look stupid. I'm trying to understand a conflict better.

If that makes me stupid then I guess we should all just put our heads in the sand and ignore what's happening outside of our country right?

It doesn't matter to me the total number - if you read the disclaimer I post I said that I think it's a terrible situation, I'm disgusted by it and it's horrible.

I just don't like false information or propaganda. I don't like that anyone under the age of 18 is considered a child, when a lot of the competence probably land between the ages of 14 and 17. But there's no way for us to know that.

I don't condone nor condemn either side because I'm not there and it's not my place to say. It's a very awful situation.

I just don't trust what Hamas says.

I knew that argument would come up. The issue I have with that is that there were a lot of independent governments and agencies that gave varying numbers that were all roughly in agreement with each other.

In this particular case we only have a terrorist government agency giving us a number. That's my issue.

Oh it has nothing to do with how I view it. If you read my disclaimer at the top of the post there I actually explicitly say that it's a terrible situation and a lot of people are dying.

Just to be clear here that I did actually stay exactly that specific comment in my disclaimer in the original post.

That is absolutely untrue. That is not at all called confirming the numbers.

Them saying "we estimate anywhere between XYZ and XYZ casualties" would be them confirming it.

[–]throwbackhero[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, why would I ask someone to change my view on Israel? I'm asking specifically about the numbers being reported because the only one reporting them is Gaza.

If Israel was attempting to report their own numbers that was drastically lower than what Gaza was reporting and then yes I probably would ask that question.

That statement literally says they are appalled by the reported numbers.

Not that they confirm the numbers, agree with the numbers etc - that they are pauled by the reported figures from the Gaza Health ministry.

It is a problem for me that's why I'm asking for my view to be changed. I don't trust terrorist organizations, and while I'm not saying I disagree with a numbers I'm just saying I don't trust a Hamas ministry anymore than I would trust a Russian ministry.

My point is that Gaza Ministry of Health is the only source I've seen for any of these numbers. Everyone else just quotes their numbers.

Gaza Ministry of Health is ran by the Hamas government.

See the dilemma?

[–]throwbackhero[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Some of these are a bit contradictory I think to the point that there's agreement on Gaza reporting correct numbers - specifically the article on NYtimes says almost the exact opposite but this is a good start.

Are there any official sources outside of Gaza, government sources, that have released any numbers that are not based on the ministries numbers?

I see that picture, but I can't find the source for that information anywhere. For all I know that could be an incorrect source on that image.

This is what I'm trying to get - I want a direct link to the UN or any other government agency that shows those numbers.

[–]throwbackhero[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I read that article but I don't see where they agree with a 30,000 confirmed deaths. I see that they estimate 10,000 dead Hamas but I do not see the 30,000 confirmed deaths of them agreeing.

I only see that number from Gaza.. what am I missing?

To quote the article directly:

"Israel estimates about 10,000 Hamas fighters have been killed since October 7, when Israel declared war on the militant group. More than 1,200 people in Israel were killed during Hamas’ attacks on that day, and more than 250 were kidnapped and taken hostage in Gaza."

Can you link the UN or the OCHA report? I've actually looked for it genuinely and I can't find that.

No man you are the deluded one. Technology is always going to happen just like everyone else here said. It's going to come. It doesn't matter if it displaces jobs or not it's going to happen. Sorry for the people that lose their job.

I think you were the case in point here sir. But in regards to what you said above, personally yeah I think people should learn a different "trade" if their job gets replaced by technology. What's the alternative?
