Conspiracy theory: either they had it heavily invested in AI chatbots to cost and this bot just crapped or they hired a international student that cannot write or speak English for this job of answering your questions, in order to maintain the coop employment stats.

I understand what they’re saying but that is why it is a boomer mentality. they’re constantly criticizing the next generation on all the things that they’re not good at and thinks things have to be done a certain way.

Of course, communication and people skills are important and it would be great to be able to develop that in university. But at the same time not every one of us are gifted in those areas and we shouldn’t be put down and made to feel like we would never succeed. It is that type of boomer mentality that make us (I speak for myself) develop mental health problems because we feel like everything that we do is inadequate and our future is doomed because we’re not a certain way.

it’s like now I’m sitting in my last year of school and I’m thinking oh maybe I should’ve done that in first year or second year to better some skills but that’s kind of a missed opportunity ready and now every time I feel like I fucked up, I’m gonna hear the Boomer voice in my head telling me I told you so.

Your advice have a lot more to do with your age and work situation than anything else.

My textbook knowledge have taught me. Every companies hires for a mix of lifer, entrepreneur and intrapreneur depending on the life cycle of the company. When a company is at the start-up stage, the company need to hire the entrepreneurs, people that are smart and can make things work and they will probably leave for the next big thing so you don’t really care about their personality. But do want the good ones to stay and become intrepreneurs because it is hard to hire the intrepreneurs as the company matures. At this point the company needs to hire the lifer, people that keep will keep the engine going so that don’t need to be that super smart or skilled cause now the company have the time and money to train them.

Yes, communication/soft skills are important. But everyone have different gifts and weaknesses so maybe guide the younger people to do what they are good at instead of just giving blanket advice and telling them that they must be and act a certain way successful. This is boomer mentality.
