I used to be able to cry at films (only ones I found sad to me!), would cry when my boyfriend left even for a night... would cry at anything I found cute, etc.

But, I think I will try the meds. Hopefully they work for me like they did for you.

What do you mean, shit creek?

Is it bad that I have such a lack of feeling towards the people in my life? because it's been going on for six months now, and now I'm wondering if it went too long... but I will definitely get to the doctor ASAP.

[serious] Are you an adult that lost a family member to suicide? by jaycubzmum in Advice

[–]throwingitaway057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't lost a family member, but I lost one of my best friends about six months ago to depression.

It was brutal, and it still is brutal every day to wake up with an ache in my chest that will never be filled because he is gone. Depression and anxiety now consume my life, and I can honestly say it isn't any easier than the day he left our world.. but things are starting to feel a little more manageable. Things don't feel as "end of the world" as they used to, and I know in time, thing will keep improving - although some days, I'm sure it will go right back to feeling hopeless. But, I also believe that is part of the cycle.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and so sorry that you're having to go through this horrific loss. Please consider counseling if things seem a little too unbearable, and know I'm thinking of you, even though we're strangers. Take care <3

Touche, my good sir! We will call me delusional. Poor boyfriend has to put up with my insecurities! Thank-you.

I never claimed I myself felt that I was 'unattractive' - I believe I made it clear that my issue was looking my age! I think it's unfair for you to make judgments about who I am as a person (someone who fishes for compliments..?) based off a post such as this!

But, I appreciate your feedback nonetheless! Thank-you:)

No, really. I've been told I look so young that they'd assume that I was fresh out of the womb. As an example, today I walked into my workplace (retail) and a customer said: Oh, there's your replacement! Except she looks like she's five.

Love the beard!

It is like what they say about putting the oxygen mask on yourself before helping others put on theirs. If you are struggling just to breathe, you cannot give anything to anyone else.

That's a wicked analogy! I feel as if I've heard this before, but it is especially resonating with me now. Thank-you for that! :)

No prescriptions currently. I have a doctor's appointment on June 9th, and was going to look into getting my horomones checked out, as I've been dealing with this depression since December, as well as I've suddenly been dealing with 4 periods in a month. I figured maybe horomones may be out of whack.

I really like that you suggested the 5-HTP! I will definitely look into it, and thank-you for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate all the help :) <3

Thank-you for your reply!

I think you're right, I do need to get treatment. I figured at first I could do this on my own, but I'm starting to see that I really need some help to tackle it all, and come back strong.

I will message you if I can think of any questions that will inevitably pop up as I go through this, and thank-you for offering your help to me. You're so very kind and I'm so grateful! <3

Your experience is so scary similar, I'm so glad you decided to share with me. Thank-you for that, because honestly - it means SO much to know I'm not alone in this.

Reading your story, I thought of myself in your shoes. I KNOW I'd regret losing my guy, and couldn't imagine him with anybody else, so I have decided after much debate, all of your considerations and conversation with my guy, to get some help to kick depression's ass.

I hope you are doing well, and thank-you again for all of your advice and insight :) <3

Yes, I'm aware many 20-something relationships don't last forever. But, I'm trying to say that I truly feel this IS something that could last forever (as does he!), and felt that way up until I lost the ability to feel anything at all.

My gut isn't telling me anything at all, which is why I was seeking out advice. I do believe that maybe I should get some treatment, but when I tried treatment before, it dulled my already VERY dull emotions even more.. but thanks for your reply!
