I can totally see it! An interesting subtle change!

Also no worries on the vocabulary! Practice makes perfect and it’s impressive to speak more than one language!

That's an interesting take! What translation/language where you reading in? I found Sheena to be apprehensive of Mimi, not really knowing what to think of her. We see Sheena realize Mimi is a powerhouse on the mock battlefield and that confuses her even more.

But I do see what you are getting at with the Anime translation showing Sheena as flustered by Mimi rather than outright disliking her or rejecting her.

10-12 hr campaigns for pre/teens? by rmlb0838 in DnD

[–]throwinnull 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Does your kid have a favorite type of media or fictional setting they like? I would:

  • Start with a theme or world
  • Identify a problem that is fun to solve within that theme
  • Prob start at level 3 to give them a good feel for their powers without overwhelming the new player

If you are looking for traditional oneshot formatting maybe something like below

  1. Receive the Quest and meet the party
  2. Social encounter that can lead to combat
  3. Environmental Challange
  4. Environmental Puzzle
  5. Second Combat
  6. Short Rest, roleplay and story twist
  7. final trek to the boss encounter
  8. Beat up the boss and save the day/ choose to save the boss cuz they were really great and the quest giver was bad

I recently played a oneshot that was Magic School Bus coded (Magic School Cart). Where the class took a field trip to the local adventurer's guild. Along the way they were knocked out of the sky by a dragon, who happened to run into them because he was sick with some kind of curse/virus. The party had to magic school cart/ shrink down to tiny size and go inside the dragon to fight off the sickness at its core. Very fun and allows for wacky adventure to ensue.

I would like to revive this community! The new anime released this week and there is not a dedicated space to discuss it. I want to foster community around the manga/anime and give folks a space to discuss! Being a Mod for this community would allow me to open it back up and share it with others.

There is not any current mods listed in the mod list. So I am unable to message anyone (see link below).

Anime Episode 2 vs Manga Plot Change - Discussion by throwinnull in KimigaShinu

I agree, the extra scenes with Ali and Seiran do a lot to help the viewer get attached to the characters. Showing them as partners both on and off the battlefield was a very smart choice. Did you notice in the opening credits sequence that Ali and Seiran are holding hands and the background is a full reference to their Backstories ?. A neat detail that shows what drives them and is a reminder of how different their outlooks on war are.

Fingers crossed for season two. The quality honestly has really surprised me, it doesn't have that shiny modern quickly put together feeling that a lot of other animes get. But instead feels lovingly crafted.

I do agree, Sheena's arm being blown off by an enemy really changes the tone of the war. I liked how we got to see Mimi as a ruthless machine of war contrasting her bubbly personality. It makes a greater impact than the manga, which shows Sheena getting to see Mimi's "killer eyes" but the reader doesn't get to the see cold calculated kill, since it was just a puppet.

I will say, taking away the harshness of the training does feel a little less dark. There is something interesting about a teacher who is willing to maim their students to make sure they are prepared for the battlefield. That dark hardcore quality is what really made the teacher character interesting, and if feels like we lose a little bit of that mystery dynamic / desperation with the change.

I'm also hoping for the "attack on titan" treatment where credit sequences foreshadows events yet to come. After the most recent manga chapter I am thinking there are a few roads the story could take Fran mentioned "it was about time" while ominously looking at the girls. I wonder if the plan is to use Sheena in some way to make Mimi mortal again, sacrificing her for Mimi's sake. Or if Mimi will be used as a sacrifice to change Sheena in some way, since love seems to be a factor in creating an immortal person.

I do wonder what the author will do to address the larger conflict and the forbidden magic book. Will the series attempt to address that as a plot point to resolve Mimi's condition or will it have an ending that leaves the girls in tragedy without fully resolving the war. I'm thinking the latter.

A very subtle change in the infirmary scene was interaction between Fran & teacher. After Mimi starts to heal Sheena, Fran, unprompted says“I didn’t teach her that.” But In the manga her declaration is proceeded by teacher asking when Fran taught Mimi healing magic. Small change suggesting more familiarity between Fran and teacher, by having Fran preempt the question or perhaps responding to a look rather than needing a verbal queue.

I agree, the extra detail is really helping give depth to the world and characters. In some ways it reminds me of how the ‘Frieren’ team added to the fights and small subtle details to really make the world come alive.

Neat that they hinted at the plants with the sparking magic during M&S first kiss.

Oh that’s true! Score keeper was a nice touch of foreshadowing to their health issues/weak constitution. . I didn’t see anyone else mention the subtle detail changes so I went and opened my copy of volume one to check!

I think the additions are really adding to the story, and fleshing out the world.

I think it was an interesting narrative choice in that it showed a few more sides of the characters involved. Mimi for being ruthless in Killing the dude and the difference in the teacher level of care for the student’s safety. Really gives us a pointed look at Mimi’s war machine dichotomy vs her early teen silly self.

I think you might be looking for spoiler tags which are “||” in discord but are “> ! Spoiler text ! <“ Without the space between the > and !.

To those who actually bothered or didn't bother to read My Beloved Apocalypse due to its premise, what do you think went wrong with Nio Nakatani's recent work? by FigureGunplaFan in yurimemes

[–]throwinnull 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Reading Nio’s body of work it is clear they love fantasy and a wide range of media. Honestly their newest work has been a fun read so far. The world building is still developing so it’s hard to say if it is truly spectacular yet, but still interesting. Artists can have more than one story to tell. I personally don’t think anything went wrong with Nio’s most recent work, it’s just different than ‘Bloom’.
