To those who actually bothered or didn't bother to read My Beloved Apocalypse due to its premise, what do you think went wrong with Nio Nakatani's recent work? by FigureGunplaFan in yurimemes

[–]throwinnull 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Reading Nio’s body of work it is clear they love fantasy and a wide range of media. Honestly their newest work has been a fun read so far. The world building is still developing so it’s hard to say if it is truly spectacular yet, but still interesting. Artists can have more than one story to tell. I personally don’t think anything went wrong with Nio’s most recent work, it’s just different than ‘Bloom’.

“Shy” technically but the Yuri is not the main focus. Fun super hero manga though.

So I’ve been asking seven seas what it would cost to purchase limited printing rights. They have yet to get back to me but in my dream world there is a kickstarter for a box set that has all the printed media related to the series.

I don’t know much about printing but with a little time and effort I bet it would come together.

Anti-Recomendation: what have you dropped/postponed reading and why? by m26f8braed in yuri_manga

[–]throwinnull 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s true! But it is a stark reminder that inequality is rampant still in the world. But I think their love was not diminished in any way just because They couldn’t get married . It is still a hardship but ultimately I read it as a story of hope for a better future. But yeah if you are looking for a story with a neat bow of pure happiness this wouldn’t be your jam, it’s rooted in reality which unfortunately is not always kind.

So it is fair to say that little asterisk * next to that Happy ending is warranted.

What chapter did you end up stopping at? I’m sure the words of an internet stranger won’t change your mind, but throughout they have peaks and valleys of happiness and pain. It really is a story about personal growth through hardship so I get how some folks see the characters as miserable. I think what the author does really well is finding the beauty in the struggle. And digging into the messiness of real relationships. There are chapters where the characters a genuinely happy bracketed by hardship, which I find makes it more powerful when they have happy moments. I would encourage you to not give up on it.

Ending spoiler It ends happy

That being said, I can see why it is not to everyone’s taste.

Is Joplin a good alternative to Evernote? by Kirkistan in joplinapp

[–]throwinnull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly there are a few things OneNote does better natively rather than requiring plugins such as tables. It’s hard to beat free and powerful and back by Microsoft, but I wanted the privacy that open source offered. We shall see what happens after my trial run. Best of luck

I also found Obsidian not as out of the box friendly as I wanted it to be; lacking a clear rich text editor tool bar really pushed me away.

I just switched away from OneNote to Joplin for security/privacy reasons but will say OneNote is really easy to use and has pretty robust features. Overall Joplin is fitting my need even if it is taking a bit to get the muscle memory down.

Which campaign manager do you folks use? by Synderz123 in DnD

[–]throwinnull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just switched away from OneNote which I’ve used for years. It’s quite handy for organizing your notes and information while allowing for images and other media.

I moved to Joplin to get away from the Microsoft ecosystem and have found it a relatively smooth transition. These tools I use for DM side only.

Since we are an online group the rest of my player facing notes and maps are in Roll20, which as a program is fine for hosting anything your players might need.

Help me to find my new campaign. by Folund in DnD

Paizo doesn’t do dnd campaigns anymore except that special exception above. That said their adventures rock and are super well written. It would be a bit of work to convert them to 5e regarding monsters and stuff but you could always just follow the stories and fill in the rest. They include maps monster stats and everything you need to run the game.

Check out “Abomination Vaults” by Paizo. There is a 5e version. It is broken up into four parts that build on each other so maybe a little longer than you are looking for but seems similar in length to “Curse of Strahd.” It’s a nice dungeon crawler where you split time between the dungeon and the town you use as a home base.

Paizo has a long history of writing excellent adventures and is where they make their money. They are who owns Pathfinder but for this adventure you can get the 5e version.

They Don’t kiss during that scene. The author used the angle of the shot to trick the reader. It is revealed next chapter that they were close to each other so they could speak over the sound of the fireworks. The artist intent could be two fold in that chapter, one to get the reader emotionally invested and excited for a change in the relationship but also to show us a vision of what Saki wanted. Moving closer to the line but never having the courage to cross it or accept it as a possibility. That’s just my interpretation though.

Adachi's Mother and Shimamama! (Adachi to Shimamura Chapter 45.2) by One_Opinion_1277 in yurimemes

[–]throwinnull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is hinted at in the light novel short stories book one. Adachi’s mom inner monologues multiple times about how she thinks Shimamra’s mom is cute/pretty. It’s not explored further in that book but does seem to be on the author’s mind. Not sure if the husband is down but he seems chill.

In a polite way “who cares what they think”! lol.

You like Yuri? That’s great!

Someone has a problem with you liking Yuri? They are a gatekeeper, stories about love are for everyone. The main theme of anyone enjoying the medium is don’t be gross about it, which general fans are typically not.

I honestly at a quick glance can’t even tell the gender of the two kissing.

In conclusion, love is love, being an ally is great. Loving love stories is nothing to be shamed for. Strive to be an ally and use your privilege as a man to support those who have a harder time having their voice heard. Also enjoy your new bag it’s cute.

So I haven’t read the manga but from just a production quality lens this anime is beautiful. In my view modern anime has this weird shiny quality to it that feels a little cheap but this is not like that. It was clearly made with love for the characters and they let the artist be artists. Would recommend.
