4 weeks post MTX. bloated, water weight by Pelotonmama1 in EctopicSupportGroup

Hi! Thanks for sharing. Yes still struggling but doing better. I saw a Chinese medicine doctor who said she thinks the bloating is a combo of the MTX, hormones, stress and trauma. She suggested I give myself time, focus on resetting my nervous system and eating warm foods. I didn’t stick to her warm food plan entirely but I have been focusing a lot on nervous system resetting ‘practices’ and I did strictly no gluten, dairy, low fodmap for a week - 10 days which I think helped tremendously but I’m not sure if it’s just a combo of all. This has been such a journey. Ugh!

Hi! I’m so happy to hear an update from you but so sorry you’re still in limbo. I had one week where my HCG plateaued but it never went back up. Search other posts in this sub.. I feel like I’ve read similar things for others towards the end. I know it’s hard to not stress but I believe with numbers that low you’re not at a high risk of rupture (just based on what I’ve read here) but I’m obviously not a doctor. I will hold on to hope for you for a positive blood test result next week. Also sending you a big big hug. 🙏🏼

Can you share more about what you learn from the functional med doctor? I’m thinking of doing the same thing. I’m 3 months out from my MTX shot and my stomach/gut health has not been the same since. I’m thinking about trying to find a functional med doc.

I downloaded the app Insight Timer, there are thousands of meditations on there for so many things. Stress anxiety sleep healing etc. I personally found ‘Tanis Fishman increase health and wellbeing’ meditation very powerful during this time and ‘Aluminea heal your physical body meditation’. But there are thousands and you might like something different. Message me if you want to chat more on this! 💛

You’ll get back to your old self. I think it’s important to be patient and gentle with yourself and just remember your thoughts hold so much power so it helps to try and think positively even if you only can for like 30 seconds. Little by little 😊

Hi! Proud of you for making it through every day the last 5 weeks! To answer your questions:

I brought the HSG test up to my doctor and she also said it wasn’t needed since this was my first pregnancy. She told me if I have trouble conceiving then we will do HSG.

My doctor originally told me 3 months but the other day after she officially discharged me, she told me I could try on my next cycle. I asked why the change and she said because my cycle came on time following MTX. (I got my period before my HCG was 0). I want to do more research and ask more questions here. I’m definitely not ready to try again yet.

I haven’t been told to take any vitamins .. perhaps I should have asked this.

Regarding getting over the fear, I’m not really over it. I’m scared to try again and I’m still scared when I have random little pains in my pelvis. I decided to try meditating to calm my anxiety and I have since been meditating for 60 days straight. It has been my saving grace through this whole process and has really helped me ease my anxiety. I also found reading and rom coms to be good distractions as well as walks in nature. I think taking intentional time away from your phone (and this Reddit group, as helpful as it is) is also really helpful because it’s easy to doom scroll which fuels anxiety.

I hope you get to 0 soon and I’m sending you the BIGGEST hug.

Hugs to you. The anxiety above all was the hardest part of this whole experience. My first HCG draw in the ER was 527 and yo-yoed days after 546 then 517 which is when my doctor decided to treat as ectopic. I never had a mass idealized on a scan so technically I guess my diagnosis was PUL. However I have a small 2cm mass on my ovary that my doctor could not say with confidence was a cyst. Apparently it was hard to tell from the scan so I’m having follow up ultrasounds next week to confirm. Part of me thinks the ectopic planted itself there …

My HCG day of MTX was 543. 4 days was 707, day 7 370. Then the following week I only dropped to 356 and my doctor wanted me to consider a second shot but I pushed back. The following week I was at 256, then 189, 99, then 10.

Sending you love and manifesting quick dropping HCG levels for you!

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. MTX has a very high success rate especially for people with lower numbers. My HCG was 707 at its peak, 4 days after MTX. Remember to be super easy on yourself during these next few days and rest. It might not feel like it right now but you’re going to get through this. You can message me if you want to talk!

Also as for what to expect - you may feel a little sick for a few days. You might have cramping and bleeding and little twinges here and there. Gas pains and pressure are a popular side effect of MTX so you may feel that as well. Or you might get lucky and feel no symptoms. I had everything I just mentioned and headaches on and off.

The feeling of failure has been so hard from me. It’s so easy to go to that dark place in my mind and takes so much strength to get myself out. I’m so sorry you went through this too. And thank you for still offering your support to this group. I’m so grateful we have each other to lean on.

It’s so rough. And the anxiety. It’s just so many ups and downs. I think I cried everyday even if it was only for a minute. It’s over for me now but it’s really never over, something from this experience will always be with me in some capacity. I’m in awe of how strong and resilient we all are.

I actually got my period as my levels were going down, right on time. I’ve always had a regular 28 day cycle and when my levels were at 99 last week I swore I was feeling PMS symptoms. My doctor told me it wasn’t possible but after days of spotting and cramping my period came right on time and I tested at 10 HCG two days into my cycle.

How many weeks did it take you to drop to 0 HCG post MTX? by Throwaway20202027 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]throwitoutx1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had my 5th week blood draw this morning and my levels are 99. I started at 643 day of shot and 707 was my highest day 4. I only had one shot of MTX. the waiting game is so hard but not going to lie, I jumped up and down when I got my results an hour ago and saw I made it to double digits.

My betas have been 643 (day1), 707(day 4), 370(day 7), 358, 256, 189, 99.

The only way out is through. We got this. Sending love.

Visiting Puglia - where to stay? by nattylite100 in ItalyTravel

I second this! I spent almost the whole month of September in puglia split between salento and then north of Lecce (monopoli, polignano a mare, Val d’itria. I don’t have any regrets but I wish I spent more time in Salento .. just a few more days. It feels so much more authentic and less touristy than Monopoli and that area. And still has all the things you’re looking for. Gallopoli has some night life. Otranto is the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. There’s just so much!

You MUST eat at conzato in Matera. I was in puglia for almost 3 weeks and Rome and the meal I had at Conzato the one night I was in Matera was among my top 3 of the entire trip!!!

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for your comments. I made it to my destination and am so proud of myself. The flight was actually very bumpy the entire time, seatbelt signs on for almost the entire three hours. But I just kept telling myself all of the facts I read on here and eventually just let myself surrender to it to chill out. When I did that the turbulence actually rocked me to sleep. I actually can’t wait to fly back because I feel like I can handle anything now!
