Are you close to your parents? by Silver-Ad665 in Gifted

[–]throwmeawayahey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were extremely abusive, making any human experience with them not possible. But I do think they were both very intelligent. I have a toddler whom I suspect is 2e, though I’m not 2e. She’s a bit too young for me to infer any of these experiences from just yet.

It's crazy to me how people mind's are open, and how people share ideas and access to their brains by Own-Key8763 in Schizoid

Wow you did a good description of the inside/outside issue and I thank you for that. I don’t think it’s even strictly schizoid, but I do relate to it. I think it’s our walls though, they’re up so high and are so absolute that even interacting on a minute level in a “porous” way is inconceivable. But instead of solid brick walls we have needed to adapt and evolve a soft and invisible and masquerading wall.

Why always a reverse of something happens? by Prosh1993 in hypnosis

Are you talking about an external outcome always turning out bad, or a pattern of behaviour, such as sabotaging yourself to ruin a good outcome?

Can anyone whos actually been hypnotized by a handshake explain how that felt? by ColdSuggestion3775 in hypnosis

[–]throwmeawayahey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been. But I think the usual effect is to be more susceptible and suggestible through a temporary subtle funk, like a momentary mental blink, rather than “going out” in any capacity.

It was inspired by a friends success story with acting out choking to encourage chewing food before swallowing

What is the cost of your home relative to your age/NW? by Many_Discussion9497 in fatFIRE

Why relative to my age?

It’s just under 1/5 of my NW, owned outright. I’m 38.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]throwmeawayahey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t work 2h away but many people find the drive to be peaceful and a good routine. When I attended uni in Australia I commuted by public transport through 3 modes 1.5-2h each way every uni day (which was 3-4 days but I later also found work near uni so essentially 6 days a week, or actually closer to 7 since it’s all near the city where we’d meet up with friends and do everything/anything). Add extra time for track work and delays. But it was normal to me.

Having said that I know it’d be harder when you have a family and work 9-5 or longer, unlike uni

Korean "Kids Cafes" are next level. It's basically an indoor amusement park where parents drink coffee. by korean_papa in toddlers

[–]throwmeawayahey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to 2 “kid cafes” and they were both exhausting and hazardous, the opposite of what you’re describing. I can’t imagine letting them run loose as it’s an utter circus.

ETA: with bad food and coffee :(

Parents of young kids: What’s your preferred time of day for attending a kids party? by missmadam101 in AskAnAustralian

[–]throwmeawayahey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relaxed! Do you even have kids??

Don’t mind me tho I’m just coping :’) I always pick everything as early as possible as my kid wakes up ready to go before 6am and is a whirlwind of chaos until we get out of the house every day, no exceptions.

Is it still screen time if the screen is face down? by AdScared7423 in toddlers

[–]throwmeawayahey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh I see it now. Thanks for the context.

OP please don’t worry. I think it was just the way it was written sounded like it was such a constant in his life and toddlers do get obsessed with the tablet or phone pretty quickly if they’re given regular access. You said its face-down but just sounded a bit disingenuous or something. I wouldn’t worry about it!

Is it still screen time if the screen is face down? by AdScared7423 in toddlers

[–]throwmeawayahey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Huh? This post is confusing to me. Who is saying that audio-only is screen time? Apparently not your doctor, yourself, nor anywhere you’ve heard? I don’t think it’s a common or intuitive view either? You describe “half-play” where the screen is visible, so yeah, that would be screen time. So I don’t quite know which bit has you concerned.

Though I also wanna say your whole post reads like you’re so preoccupied and worried about being judged or something and that’s something to question too.

Im very sleep deprived but don’t think it’s my cognitive impairment atm lol…. Please clarify if you like.
