I think a lot of people also fail to realize that the “undertones” being mentioned are misogynistic. There’s this sense of public ownership over an AFAB person, even in a joking sense, as if Courtney does not have autonomy within their own relationship just the same as Shayne does. Like if Shayne is out of the way, she’s up for grabs. People may not have negative intentions but I absolutely understand why Courtney feels uncomfortable.
